Whitley Bay
Located in the centre of Whitley Bay, just 20 minutes’ drive from Newcastle upon Tyne, The Pines Guest House offers guesthouse accommodation with free private parking on site. Good location between the beach and Metro. Large room with private bathroom and TV. Snacks, tea and coffee in the room and the gust house was well heated and decorated. Really great value for money
Nice location near the beach. Only issue was dogs not allowed on the beach where we were but they were aloud on further down the coast.. Staff were good, receptionist was a jack of all trades, checked us in, served us drinks at the bar and fixed the TV in our room.. Cleanliness of the room let it down. Top of the wardrobe was thick with dust and had broken cup handle and other litter on it. Picture frame also thick with dust. Mattress was bumpy, not comfortable.
Would definitely recommend Whitley Bay beaches are beautiful and plenty of places to have a lovely meal, I normally stay with my family but due to work being done was unable to stay with them this time hence my stay in a hotel ,
Whitley Bay is a great seaside town. It has a great beach, some excellent facilites and great ice cream and fish and chips (Di Meo for ice cream, Fishersman's Inn for fish and chips). It is quite lively with many families visiting, but never gets too crowded or busy. Car parking is easy, there are the usual shops in the town, the water and beach are very clean and the locals are very friendly and focused on helping visitors. If you have not visited, then do so, you will not be disappointed.
Whitley Bay is back to being a lovely seaside town - the seafront area and Spanish City underwent a major refurbishment 6 years ago, which has made a big difference to the feel of the place. The seafront from St Mary's lighthouse all the way south to Cullercoats is lovely and open and great for walks, runs etc and the beach itself seemed really clear of litter. The town is easily accessible from Newcastle via the Metro, and you can also walk along the coast and get the Metro back. I had a lovely brunch at a cafe called Relish on Marine Avenue just up from Spanish City; very friendly cafe owners and good food.
Lovely and clean. We loved the long promenade. We were lucky to be staying overlooking the links and the sea. Some very good places to eat, delicious ice cream and a busy town centre with lots of good shops. Good regular bus service to get about and leave the car.
Really nice & picturesque. I also stayed in Whitley Bay last year as part of my stay for the Great North Run & really enjoyed it so decided to stay in Whitley Bay again - avoid Windsor Hotel in Whitley Bay as it is a shambles with heating on all night like sauna I kid you not!
We knew when we booked this it was a budget room/hotel. Paul is extremely welcoming and a very nice guy. Our room was clean and a nice size, it was a shame the wifi wasn't working but it wasn't the end of the world. I would say that the bed was not that comfy, very hard but again we paid £40 a night. The hotel is well placed though to walk to the lovely coffee shops in Whitley Bay and get onto the metro to go into Newcastle. Parking is on the street, we were able to get a space but it does get busy.
Whitley Bay
Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.
Whitley Bay
The location was brilliant and couldn’t have been handier for what we wanted. From our window we had St Mary’s Lighthouse to the left and Spanish City to the right. Our host had sourced some excellent gluten free sausages for us. She is extremely knowledgeable about Tynemouth and Whitley Bay and suggested an Indian restaurant for us which again exceeded expectations. We will definitely make this top our our list of guest houses in Tynemouth.
Whitley Bay
The location is perfect for the beach and the sweet spot between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. The decor was interesting and there was enough space for the three of us. The apartment is well enough equipped and the addition of a dishwasher is very welcome.
Whitley Bay
Lovely stay here at the Metropolitan guest house. Very beautifully decorated and excellent breakfast. Will definitely stay here again when coming back to Whitley Bay and recommend highly!
Staff were nice and friendly and it had a great location on the seafront. Despite the hotel being a little dated, it was kept nice and clean.
