Whitley bay was clean ,no rubbish on streets. Everyone was friendly. The boardwalk was busy with dog walkers,runners and cyclists. The beach is large and clean. Great place; wonderful local coastline: beaches, rocks, harbour etc. All very well kept too (well-done The Council) Parking charges reasonable. Cannot see why people rave about tatty dumps like Brighton with pebbly beaches and scruffy streets and anti-motorist stance. I love Whitley Bay, my family live there and I have been many times. The locals are always friendly and helpful. There are great places to eat and Cullercoats and Tynemouth are in walking distance. The Metro and bus service are excellent.Guest review byPrice - 8.0
The town is a bit run down but is up and coming.
The town is a bit run down but is up and coming. The beach is lovely and there is a good promenade too. Spanish City is a great asset with cafes and restaurants. Park View is a wonderful independent shopping street. There are a range of restaurants to choose from. The Metro and bus connect the resorts of Cullercoats, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. Basic kitchen equipment, microwave and kettle. Local coffee was a really nice touch. Easy to check in with codes which are emailed. I booked because of the reviews I read about the farm & the welcoming hosts and it did not disappoint. Has everything you need for a short trip and only a 10 minute drive to Whitley Bay. Jon & Trish were so welcoming and great with our 7 year old, introducing her to the animals and letting her feed them etc… she also used the garden play equipment with their grandkids & loved it. The only downsides for me were that the single bed was uncomfortable and could have provided much more support and that there was no wi-fi.
