Was expecting something lovely and comfortable for our last night away. Met a couple in the car park who had been trying to contact owner for 2 hours as they had no check in instructions. (We did, but struggled to find the second floor rooms). Rooms were tiny, smelt and felt damp - the building has thick stone walls, can see why, but still off putting) booked two rooms for three of us. One had no window only a ceiling sun light - which was ok, except you can pull a curtain so the room was suddenly very bright when the sun came up whether you wanted or not. Our rooms would have been better knocked through to make a family room - same amount of revenue but room to walk all the way round the beds... Partition walls very thin, could hear next door. Also fire doors in corridors banged against the walls echoing into the rooms. Has the potential to be very comfortable and welcoming, but much more thought needs to be given.
Didnt spend any time in Wilby itself other than the bnb. Declan the chef at The George is a complete delight. Makes yummy breakfasts. Very accommodating to vegetarians. Yana, who takes care of the rooms is lovely. Excellent value for money.
