Pleasant, sleepy country town with an interesting but noisy Minster, what with the bells and lorries. Ear plugs were offered but perhaps double glazing might be more user friendly. All in all, a pleasant stopover with a variety of eating and drinking places.
Wimborne town centre has a lovely atmosphere - ‘real’ shops and plenty of choice of restaurants. The Kings Head provides everything you could need in a prominent position in the square. The Minster is a superb Norman building and well worth visiting. The covered weekend Market is excelllent although a good mile’s walk from the town itself but there is also onsite parking there too.
It was a Sunday and there was a service in the Minster so we didn't like to intrude even though we would have been made welcome to join in the service. We wanted to see the chained library inside so we will be back, but not on a Sunday.
Love Wimborne, such a lovely little town, lots of lanes to explore, great quirky shops and cafes, very central to explore other places too. Fab little old theatre for live acts, and nice places to eat and drink of an evening. Lovely homely feel about the place, great old buildings. I recommend it any time of the year but I love it in the winter as a get away, Christmas light switch on was family orientated and a lovely weekend away with great market place entertainment all day. They seem to make an effort which is refreshing, proper community!
It’s a nice town with a lovely surrounding area. Very quiet throughout our stay. Can’t believe how many charity shops there are in such a small town. We saw at least 10 with others ‘opening soon’

“As B and B owners ourselves on Dartmoor, couldn’t fault Wimborne Lodge. Lovely room, comfy bed, excellent food, great hosts and real value for money I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend it to friends.”
“The 1777 is a lovely, quirky hotel in a great location. The staff, especially Ben the manager were polite, professional and could not do enough to make staying there a lovely experience. Have visited about 5 times and will go again. Book a room you will not be disappointed !!.”
