What a place; what a location! Spent 4 days at Cragwood and couldn’t be happier with the choice. With the great weather, we spent many hours on the patio with friends gazing out at Lake Windermere. Fab! Our clean and comfy room was well equipped with all the amenities- tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries, etc. The quiet location meant a great sleep as well. The bus service is close to the property and we used it one day and happy we did! Parking a car can be a nightmare in the district as we found out . At the time of our stay, the facility was hosting 2 weddings and the servers were kept hopping, but the one meal we had in was a delight! Best fish and chips I had my entire, lengthy stay in the UK!

    A lovely place to visit.

A lovely place to visit. Lots of good local shops, cafes and restaurants that were nearby. Buses 599 open top available to get to other places and train station with good connections if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed visiting Ambleside, Bowness, Coniston and Grasmere. We took a boat out on Windermere from Low Woods, the car ferry to Hawkeshead and the boat trip on Lake Coniston. A walk down to the lake directly from Windermere via Birthwaite Road leads you to two small jetties where people were swimming, paddle boarding and people watching. In Windermere, Home Ground Cafe is a great place for breakfast but be prepared to queue. Tillys bar did a good fish and chips. Cafe Italia for pizza etc.

I don’t think what I review in words would be enough to sum up Windermere and the Lake District it is the most beautifuly breathtaking place you could see , with its stunning views of the lake taking a boat trip to many other parts of the district , the walking up many fells it’s a hikers paradise , it has plenty of local transport that runs every day to get you around or you can use the ferry ,, plenty of places to eat and drink lots of local shops and businesses offering beautiful things to buy , our favourite place the aira force waterfall , you must take the bus the journey will be one of the most beautiful things you have ever seen , find the trails and walk them if you can especially the one from from grassmere to Ambleside it’s about 5 miles around the lake with a diffrent landscape every 10 minutes , good walking shoes a packed lunch and drink and of you go

Very lively near the town centre but easy to get away on walks around the area. Plenty of buses and lots to see and do. We went to the Flying Pig for dinner. Food was fine and the staff were very good. However , we didn’t like the pubs atmosphere or lack of it !!!

food was very poor for a breakfast, room was tired with a small bathroom - this is a luxury hotel.. view was ok it was the lake. selling it as a spa hotel and then asking for me to day a daily charge to use the pool is unfair and misleading.
