When I was young Worthing used to be a bit of dump, but it's clearly on the up now. For eating we would particulalry recommend the Rose and Crown on Montague Street ( which is also good for antique shops, charity shops and independent stores). We;ve been there several times, the beer's good, the food's very reasonable and we have never had a bad meal.
Giueseppes Sicialian Street Food on Warwick Street is awaesome. They are seriously fanatical about the food they produce which includes arancini, canoli and their own gelato. It's a wonderfvul freindly cheap eat, and I hope I can take my grandchildren there one day
It looks generally fairly grim outside Worthing Station but the Victorian Pub is astonishing inside , with lots of carved woodwork, fluted stained glass shrouding columns and huge chandeliers. Feels slightly fantastical. Well worth going to.
The pier's pleasant, quite quiet with good views and plenty of seating outside cafes.
The museum and art gallery is a bit of suprise. Some challenging art ( good fun) and a suprisingly good collection of costume.
