Aegina is a very pretty town with ferries coming and going...
Aegina is a very pretty town with ferries coming and going all day, every day. Its only 40 mins from Piraeus, but a world away from the city. I visited in off season - November - but the weather was lovely at 23*C. There are plenty of places to eat along the waterfront, and it is an easy place to explore by walking, bus or taxi. You can hire bikes too just opposite the port. I visited the ruins & museum at the end of town; and travelled to other places on the island including the Temple of Aphaia, Agin Marina, and Paliachora. The people are very friendly. I could have easily stayed longer!

I Have grown up in Aegina seen it change and expand but it still keep a charm about it ,where there used to be little cafes bakeries and all sundries are now well expanded bars. The back street now have a myriad of shops and all you need provision wise, the old fish market survives and is renowned for its fresh fish and restaurants serving the same all the way back to Athens .
It gets now very busy at the weekend as the Atheans flood back from the city .the town prides itself on its impressive ancient history and modern cultural endeavours galleries and festivals . There are not the boys on tour nonsense beer bellies rowdy 'go on down it Dave' ! of other big islands which i have also lived on in Greece. the larger groups are made of the sailing fraternity so you may get a group of 10 Dutch, German or English but they have a different and more respectful etiquette, the bars are very much for Greeks of all ages with the tourist filling the other seats in harmony . it can be noisy as the ferries bring in and take out persons and trade all day ,but it settles again as the ships leave .

plenty of inexpensive restaurants, we ate under the starts every night.
Excellent fish, and indeed they cooked their meat really well too.
You could find a nice bottle of local wine for less than 25 euros.

A higgledy piggledy jumble of small streets with both traditional and modern shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Plenty of scope to wander, too small to get lost in. Pistachios for sale everywhere: ultimately I chose to get mine from Mourtzis at P. Irioti 57, and am very happy I did. Eating: for simple, reasonably priced, fresh and delicious Greek food, and excellent, friendly service I would recommend O ΤΣΙΑΣ (Tsias) along the waterfront. Don't miss the Archeological Museum - it's absolutely fascinating.

It Has easy access from Athens with regular ferries.
It Has easy access from Athens with regular ferries. A variety of little bays and restaurants. Generally peacefull and relaxed environment. Felt very safe at all times as a solo traveller. There are options to go to other islands from there for day / afternoon trips. The Island itself is lush and green due to pistachio trees and the sea is stunning. Monuments and churches to visit as well. Mostly rocky beaches.
Everything was just perfect. The location of the hotel was just on a fraction distance of everything-walking distance to the port, shops, walking to the bus station, walking tho the beach, churches and all of the local shops. Place feelt very safe and comfortable. It had all additional essentials-chairs,table,kettle, cutlery etc.
A cute balcony with big windows overlooking the sea, boats and the sunset.
Marios(the host) was extremely helpful, friendly, thoughtful and easy approachable any time.
Big thank you.
Great localisation - perfect to reach beach, port, town, taverns with just a few minutes walk while ensuring silence and Greek “dolce vita” summer experience. interiors are minimalistic, designed in while with blue elements, clean and cosy, still with everything you need including balcony full of flovers to enjoy long breakfast. The owner is a lovely guy who welcomes you as a friend, helpful and flexible, ensures you have everything you need and becomes indeed your friend on the island. For sure will come back
We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Avra. It is in a great location very close to the port, beaches, and restaurants, and a short walk from the shops. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a cute little balcony where we could hang out our bathers and wet clothes. We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was lovely. I would recommend this hotel as it is in a very convenient location yet not too close to the main shopping/restaurant strip so not too busy and loud at night.
Superb location, gorgeous property and welcoming and friendly staff. Perfectly situated for a quiet and relaxing stay, but close enough to Aegina town and all the amenities to make life as easy as possible. Breakfast was varied and of high quality and the staff at Rastoni could not have been more helpful at making our stay a welcome one.
Really could not recommend this hotel highly enough and the visiting cats were an added bonus!
The studios are located between Aigina Town and Marathonas Beach. This was very convenient for us, as we were aiming for something quiet yet close to the town. Our hostess, Mrs. Stefanie, is a true hospitality professional, going the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our vacation. We stayed at the blue studio that had an amazing view to the small port across the street. We will definitely come back next year.
We loved this quaint hotel with a beautiful view from our balcony, gorgeous spacious two bedroom suite. The air conditioning worked very well. The breakfasts were delicious and served in the pretty courtyard. The location is perfect (a couple of minutes walk to the beach, shops, restaurants and port), and the host was wonderful!!! We would LOVE to come back!
We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were charming - clean, comfortable beds and a stunning garden with lots of lovely places to sit and relax. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Best of all Liana and all the staff were truly welcoming and had great suggestions for restaurants and helpful information about the island.
Marios! This gentleman takes care of you. He's attentive, responsive, friendly, and kind.
Location is great. Grocery, bakery, the town, all nearby. (We also like the window pull down shutters, but that's perhaps our personal preference. They made the room dark and quiet. Yes, we slept in!)
Lovely hotel, clean and with very good location, near to the centre (restaurants, beach, shops, port, bus station) . Very nice and friendly staff.
Tasty breakfast.
We would like to come again next year.
Thank you!
Fabulous hotel, staff and facilities excellent. Approx 10 minutes walk into Aegina Town. Pool immaculate, very clean, sun loungers so comfortable and plenty of them. Highly recommended, will definately return.
The hotel is located at the top of the hill, just follow the shoreline from the port get there. Sea views, cool and a short walk down to the sea. The staff is lovely and helpful. Has everything you need.
Because the hotel itself does not do breakfast we were sent next door to another hotel where a perfectly charming lady, Rena, spread out the best home-made breakfast we've had in a long time.
Very friendly staff. Very nice amenities. Location is great - only 14 minutes walking to the port and around 5 minutes walking to the beginning of town. Lovely breakfast.
We initially booked a standard room for two.The hotel complex was exactly 1.4 kilometres from the port.Very poorly lit road on the way back from town,at night.
very friendly and welcoming staff
the property is really close to the port and the center of Aegina town, and has a beautiful garden
very good value for money
