I love Athens.
I love Athens. It's such a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, with just the right mix of history, hospitality and funky vibes. Definitely book longer than you think you need so you have time to just soak it up. First, for a non-hotel setting with a quaint and very warming stay, consider V1935 Luxury Apartments! Just outstanding. Operates like a small hotel, and includes a wonderful breakfast freshly made every morning (buffet style) in the cute restaurant on the main floor. The rooftop restaurant (Italian with outstanding pizza) while small is warm and inviting. Your room has a good size kitchen, living room and bedroom and even a small washing machine if you need it. So much to see and there's a real danger of cultural...
So much to see and there's a real danger of cultural overload. Restaurants in general are good and reasonably priced for the area. A real must is the hop on hop off bus ( 3 companies- all good). They will give you a sense of where everything is. My favourites were the Acropolis Hill (Pantheon), The Acropolis Museum (Absolutely stunning) and the National Archaeological Museum. The Parthenon and acropolis were a site to behold. It is very dangerous footing. Sneakers should only be worn .. no sandals. It is not for the elderly or handicap. Your museum was not worth seeing if it were not for the excavations. You only need a self guided tour not a paid guide. The ppl of Athens were very harsh and not friendly nor helpful. The city needs to be revitalized with better night life. The food is mediocre at best. If you want ppl to travel there you need a big changeGuest review byAnonymous
