We drived to Elafonisi beach and took around one and half hour from the hotel. It's amazing scenery on the way there. Some parts of the road are quite narrow and winding. Must drive with caution. The beach is very beautiful and has also pink sand. The water is shalllow, clear with a turquoise color and smooth waves. Gerani is a quiet area 25 minutes outside of Chania and easy to reach by car or bus if you choose. Great base for sightseeing the northwest beaches. Close to restaurants and markets if you have a rental car or don’t mind walking about 10 minutes. Safe area to walk at night.
