Not a very busy place which was a plus. Lots of places with good food and small shops. Kalamaki Mare Cafe was a highlight regarding breakfast. Beach was good, even managed to get some free loungers. It is not far away from Chania.
It is not far away from Chania. We prefer to have a short drive to the city, and stay in a bit more relaxing area like that. It is also more convenient for trips to the western part of Crete. There's no need to go further because Kalamaki Beach is very beautiful. The water is clean, with small waves. The sunbeds and umbrellas are the cheapest around. Nearby, there's a taverna offering good food and drinks at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly.Guest review byEditSlovenia - 8.0

Didn't realise it was a separate area, it is connected to Chania, something like suburbs. A lot of small hotels and apartments in the area, several restaurant. It was good that we rented a car so we could explore nearby beaches. There is public transport till around 23:00, but we didn't use it. Kalamaki is on the outskirts of Chania with a lovely beach and all basic facilities that you need - a few restaurants, minimarkets, a few tourist shops, pharmacy etc. It’s location is excellent in my opinion as it’s a small quiet resort but from there it’s just a 20minute bus ride into the centre of Chania town itself where you have the old town, Venetian harbour, shops etc, and in the other direction you can take a different bus to the resorts of Ayia Marina, Platanias, Kolimbari etc.Guest review bySuzanneCyprus - 8.0
