You would definitely need a car here to be able to visit Oia and Fira easily. Also Kamari was actually our favourite place, had a lovely beach, shops and restaurants. Loved Megalochori: little beautiful village with its colorful houses,churches and little back alley streets. It was as if I was walking in a big painting or Theatre set. The view from all the rooms is spectacular: an absolutely top-notch Santorini sunset view without the large tourist crowds. An excellent breakfast served to our private balcony with this view was a real highlight of every day. We also liked the peaceful location of the hotel a lot. It's about a 1.0 km walk from a small town center with many excellent tavernas, but still far enough from the big crowds of tourists. The terrace was a great place for sunbathing and the hot-tub was great in the evenings when it became a little cooler (we were here at the beginning of May). The village has a few restaurants which are great and a lovely wine bar called Symposium. We were a bit skeptical about Santorini because we had experienced the hordes of tourists first hand and only visited because our flight departed from Santorini. Upon arrival we were surprised with an upgrade to a crater-view suite, and this place is just out of this world. The location is perfect for the people who want privacy and avoid the agitation of the center. The acces is easy. if you have a moto or a car, 15-20 min and you can be wherever you want.
