As an Australian I didn’t come for the beaches….
As an Australian I didn’t come for the beaches…. Ours are first class but the sea water is more beautiful and crystal clear in the Mediterranean and Adriatic. The town itself is unique with quaint cobbled alleyways and restaurants everywhere and shops. It’s European style . Summer must be a nightmare with all the tourists so September for us was great, still warm and good weather. The bus routes are on opposite sides of the waterfront. One bus runs that way and the other ,the other way …… hope that makes sense. One leaves from the old port and the other from Fabrika square . Plenty of hired scooters or quad bikes available to explore the island . My first impression was not favourable but the next day had a better impression and enjoyed the two days in Mykonos . Long enough for me . We stayed in a beautiful hotel at the top of the hill called hotel Damianos … beautiful beautiful hotel , lovely breakfast, super friendly staff , lovely pool area and very reasonably priced . We visited Mykonos during September 2025. Stayed 14 days there. Visited the most important beaches and several very good restaurants. We rented a car. During our holiday the days were mostly windy so we spent the most of time at beaches of island south side. (beaches Ornos, Psarou, Paradise and super Paradise). After visiting to windmills we went to Paralia Megali Ammos. Mikonos is offering something for everybody - very good (and not expensive) restaurants located in old city port, near of Municipal Library and deeper inside of Hora (Kostas restaurant).Guest review byMagveSerbia - 10.0

Mykonos is a great island that only exist for tourists. All the workers go home during the winter and the island is desolate. But during the warmer months, it comes alive. The old Mykonos town is beautiful, unfortunately it's been overrun by cruise ships, tourists and wannabe influencers Once you get to the beach you are welcomed with sunbeds at overinflated prices and mediocre food / service. The pool is lovely and you can order amazing coctails and prosecco at the bar. Hotel is busy but not noisy and I rested well. It's a walking distance to the Old Town of Mykonos,less than 10 min but still far from any noise or loud music. They were checking regularly if everything is ok or if I need something else. Also, the hotel ia very clean and the cleaners are everyday visiting the room and refilling coffee/ cosmetics, everything you need. The rooms are cozy and you will have the best view for sunset, over the sea and the port. Very close to the town, max 7 min walking.
