Palaiochora is a gem and worth a visit given its superb selection of cafes and restaurants as well as shops. There is some beautiful scenery to be visited nearby although having one's own car helps. The two beaches are absolutely stunning especially the west beach.
It is one of the most delightful and actually quite historic towns in Crete.
One of the most suited to families, couples and retired visitors. It has a relaxed and laid back ambience. Not really for busy seekers of active nightlife though.

For me, Paleochora is an ideal place for vacation. a magical town with a couple of excellent beaches, wonderful people, a long coast east-west, with many different and fantastic beaches, which can be visited in various ways, and above all, and for me, the most beautiful, by bike.
In a word, I would like to visit her again for more days.

Paleochora is a great destination that still feels genuine and not as crowded as many other destinations in Crete.
One great detail is that they close of the parts of the main road in the afternoon and it turns into a street party with restaurants and bars moving tables and chairs into the street.
The beach is fantastic and lots of different restaurants to choose from. A very charming place that we will definitely visit again.

The town is beautiful, authentic and not heavily commericalised. It is a hidden gem and is like a mini Chania without the busyness! Lots of lovely restaurants, beaches and experiences are on offer. People are incredibly friendly and you feel safe from the moment you arrive!
Excellent hotel and amazing location (right across from the main beach). Everything within a few steps. I also was able to park in a designated area which belonged to the hotel so parking was NO problem at all. And best of all, the owners are so kind and helpful.
Breakfast was very enjoyable, with a wide range of options. I found all aspects of our stay in Aris Hotel to be very satisfactory. There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower cubicle. Staff were very friendly and obliging.
Supremely cool dude (Stelios?) taking care of us at the hotel. This is the hotel that Pal was missing, one step up from everything else, room-wise. Short way to The Palm restaurant and it is right on the beach, just perfect.
Fantastic stay, everything was great! All amenities, the beach just steps away, and a village very close by. Highly recommended, 5 stars, the best option to stay in southern Crete!
