I don't usually like touristy places but Platanias had a lovely feel about it. Not too many people, although this may have been because we went in September. We visited the War Museum - definitely worth it. Also went to John the Hermit cave and monastery at Kissimo which were unbelievable. Beach was great and snorkeling trip fantastic and well looked after.Angus - Scored 8.08.0

Touristy beach town extending along one road with lots and lots of restaurants, bars, hotels etc. lovely to get away from the road onto the beach. Beach was calmer and more relaxed away from the town centre.

The beach is nice, one can enjoy both sunrise & sunset at it. Warm waters. You must have beach shoes, as it is mostly made of rocks. You can go around by foot or bus, which runs every 20-30 minutes. Platanias has a good variety of shops, bar, restaurants to choose from, but our favourite by far was the SUN RISE BEACH RESTAURANT. A great place for swimming, eating well and having summer fun with the family. It is also easy to make day trips to e.g. Hania, Rethymno or other towns by bus. There is also a fun waterpark Limnoupolis nearby.

Great place to visit - so many restaurants to choose from, too many to mention!! Lots of shops to buy olive oil, gifts, etc. I have also never seen so many supermarkets in one place, ever! Just brilliant.

The restaurant food was lovely and the waitress working there was really great. The pool was so nice, I liked that it was a smaller hotel and only a few mins walk into the hub of platanias. Air con was so good, nearly too good!!! The room was cleaned every day with fresh towels for pool & apt provided.OrielIreland

Easy access to beach and local water slides. Host was very friendly and helpful. Even the locals were amazing. We run out of drinkng water and the local restaurant (COSMOS) gave us free bottles of water at 11pm. They did not have to do that, and refused to take money.

The host is the most enthusiastic and friendly person I've ever met. She prepared everything I needed for me! Everything in the apartment is so perfect - clean and big beds, beautiful gardens and a sunny living room. It's only a few steps away from the beach. Living here is definitely a good start to your trip to Crete!

Bus stop near the hotel which brings you directly into Chania. We had a relaxing 8 stay and the staff were very helpful. We landed at 10.30pm and the bar man made us food when we arrived.
