Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible.
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible. We visited the beautiful village of Chora, the monastery of St John, the windmills, and the spiritual cave of the Apocolypse, where John wrote the book of Revelation in the Bible. All was achieved in one day by taxi from Skala. The entire trip was from the island of Kos by ferry, with a 2 night stay in Skala. Well worth it. Wonderful !! There are many paths that appear to be footpaths but are actually roads. Once you are aware of this, it makes it easier to travel with a scooter, which I recommend. these paths are also great to get around by foot and it is a nice walkable area.Guest review byLambaAustralia - 8.0

Pleasant, very typical Greek port town, with meandering streets and reasonably restrained tourism. Some great restaurants. Easy access to the famous monastery by bus, and the cave where John supposedly wrote the Book of Revelation; also easy bus access to some great beaches (and some not so great). A very nice compact town with a lovely array of shops, restaurants and bars. Beautiful harbour and a stunning hora above the main town. We were there in the 3rd week of September and the buses were still running. Netia restaurant at the far end of town was our favourite, followed by Pantelis.
