Spetses is a very relaxed island with a picturesque port and lots of nice restaurants and cafes. The beaches are good however unless you have transport there it can be difficult to get to beaches as there is an erratic single private bus service. Such a gorgeous island that is spread over a large area allowing more places to explore. The old port charm is breathtaking and wonderful to eat at so many different restaurants. The main port offers large walking paths and sea views. The beaches offer crystal clear waters but as no cars are allowed on the island, hiring a quad bike or motorbike to explore these beaches are a must. A beautiful town with lots of well maintained buildings (and quite a few ruined ones), narrow quaint streets and a large number of reasonably priced restaurants. The Bouboulina museum, run by descendents of the family, was a treasure and well worth visiting - more interesting than the official museum. Anyone going to Spetses should be aware that there are hundreds of medium sized motor bikes and quad bikes tearing through all the streets, making lots of noise and there is hardly a helmet to be seen. Kastro Hotel exceeded our expectations , the staff is amaing, very helpfull and they gave us good tips, where to go, what to do. Our room was amaing , we had the Suite, it has a sea view balcony in the front. It was very clean , i loved the living room area. There is a small kitchen if you need to make something and a coffee machine. Wifi was good. The sheets and towels smelled so nice , you dont see this in other hotels. It's in a very quiet location but extremely central. It's extremely clean and tidy and the pool is wonderful. Breakfast has many options and is served in the pretty garden. Everyone was polite, helpful and smiling. Beds are very comfy and rooms have balconies (which are not very private unfortunately).
