Situated in the region of Central Macedonia, Thessaloniki is the 2nd largest city in Greece and a precious cultural centre. Built near the sea, this modern metropolis used to be the crossroads between east and west, and houses some of the most amazing Byzantine and Ottoman monuments.
This lively city is full of large avenues, green squares, stunning Neo-Classical buildings and stylish shops. The White Tower of Thessaloniki is an imposing landmark on the waterfront and is the symbol of the city - a reminder of old times.
Visit sophisticated Thessaloniki, and you will have the chance to meet some of the most important Greek artists and musicians. The city has also an energetic nightlife featuring a number of clubs, bars or 'bouzoukia'.
Famous for the traditional taverns, restaurants and 'ouzeries', the Ladadika neighbourhood is the old Jewish quarter, filled with picturesque narrow streets. It is an ideal place to try some famous Macedonian specialities like bougatsa, souvlaki, and the delicious 'Panorama triangles'.
Thessaloniki International Airport is located about 15 km away from the city centre, and is the second busiest airport in Greece. Booking.com offers a big selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses throughout the city.
City itself is not worth a visit. But most people rent a car straight from the airport to travel to beaches nearby. We spent way too long in the city. But went to a different beach each day which was quite nice.
The old city of Thessaloniki was pretty spectacular As with all cities there are elements I would avoid and we did. We felt mostly safe walking around at night by ourselves. The board walk was great and there are many awesome restaurants to choose from. I would highly recommend Thessaloniki.
We stayed in Thessaloniki for two nights, because roads to the Pillion are barred. During three days we visited the inner city of Thessaloniki with plenty of shops, bistros, restaurants, archeological sites, musea and of course the sea. It's a charming place with very friendly and open people. Prices are on low side compared to other European cities, as long as you stay away from the first row of shops and bars/restaurants at the sea.
Thessaloniki is a city break by the sea, there are no beaches that close so most visitors stay a short while then move on down the coast or go to an island. There is enough to see and do for a few days stay and there are some nice bars and restaurants. Prices are generally cheaper than the Greek islands too.
Navigating the town can be a bit challenging since most of their information tables and websites are primarily in Greek. Although you can access many places on foot, having the option to understand how to use public transportation would be beneficial. Fortunately, the majority of the population speaks English and are willing to assist you. Regarding the museums, they didn't particularly stand out, especially for European visitors. Additionally, some of them seemed a bit overpriced in my opinion, especially when compared to what you can experience in other countries. The driving and pedestrian behavior in the town can be described as chaotic; it appears that adherence to traffic rules is not a common practice. I was surprised by the subpar quality of the restrooms in some of the less upscale coffee shops. Some lacked electricity, while others had broken doors. Ultimately, the town's primary attractions revolve around relaxation, leisurely strolls, and shopping. I wouldn't spend more than 2 days in the town, as there's not that much to see or do.
Thessaloniki is a nice city for spending few days With the option to make some star trips around about 90-100 kilometers distance . Much more preferred to be in autumn or the beginning of the winter , it is not warm and without humidity. There are renewed markets beside the old parts New gourmet restaurants , do not skip those restaurants. The most important thing in your stay will be the location of the hotel, although the good hotels in the centre cost higher they worth it if you’r someone who likes to go out frequently.
+ The hotel is located in a very quiet and green area of Thessaloniki, very close to the airport, but far from the city center. + The rooms are huge (even the smallest ones), seem recently renovated and are well equiped. + The view from our room was pretty much 100% nature, which was very relaxing. + Beds are huge also and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our sleep. + Staff was super friendly and accomodating. + Free shuttle bus to/from the airport was a big bonus.
Thessaloniki
It was one of the best rooms/hotels we have booked through booking.com. The apartment had everything we wanted and was newly renovated. Location is great, quiet neighbourhood yet close to the city centre. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. We even tried the breakfast for one day of our stays and it was really good, considering the covid circumstances.
Thessaloniki
we allways stay here when we cross Thessaloniki on our way to our holidays in Greece. Very clean ,great & helpful staff ( we left early in the morning and they prepared some toast and fruits for the road ❤️). The rooms are small but for us this wasn’t a problem. All in all, see u Grand Port Suites next time! P.s we also had parking spot in front of the hotel! 🤘
Friendly people at the desk. It once was a very nice hotel, I guess, beautiful inside and outside. To keep it like that would require renovation and more maintenance. Now I found it just okay. So, all in all, I would say that it is very nice that there is in Thessaloniki a cheap hotel with a nice past which now is just okay.
The hotel is perfect for getting around due to great location no frills accommodation we wee 2 60 plussers well travelled and quite fit the beds were really low so may be an issue if you are not fit. All in all a really cheap hotel in the middle of the hotspots in Thessaloniki Staff really helpful and friendly
Thessaloniki
The hotel was great. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The neighborhood adjacent to the hotel wasn't the greatest and we probably wouldn't walk around there at night. But it's a quick cab ride to Thessaloniki's downtown. Plenty of free parking on the street.
Amazing new 5 star hotel Beautiful big modern clean rooms with balcony. Comfortable beds and pillows. Great facilities in the rooms and the gym The pool and the restaurants have great views of the city. Staff helpful polite and friendly. Great food location central and safe.
5 star staffer . Kindness and professionalism that you rarely meet. Stuff in breakfast 6 star. Breakfast 4 star…!!! Very comfortable and clean room/hotel. I highly recommend them for a hotel almost at the beginning of the Thessaloniki market!!
Very polite and helpfull staff, central location, rich breakfast and very clean rooms... Also this hotel has own parking space for the guests.. (it is super hard to find a parking space at central thessaloniki because all car parks are always full)
the hotel was located right in the city center of Thessaloniki. Many restaurants , cafes , bars open passed midnight so there were no worries with food. Also there was a supermarket to buy additional water , etc which was a major plus .
Amazing 5 star hotel! Very comfortable bed, staff was amazing, there was even a pet bed four our four legged friend! I really recommend this place. I also loved the pool 😍
This is a beautiful hotel; we loved the room, service, breakfasts and staff. It was convenient to our purposes in Thessaloniki. Thank you.
Very nice hotel out of Thessaloniki traffic jams. Clean and cosy, with very friendly staff. Recommend it for all.
