Antigua is a beautiful city full of history, amazing and magnificent architecture but locks free tour guids provided by the city. Its should be an investment of their part, the amount of money that tourist bring to it, and all that knowledge and histories to be shared to attract more tourists is completely lost. . Free tour guides provided by city are needed.
Antigua Guatemala is a world class tourist site. There are many options for sightseeing, dining, shopping and excursions. There are many Spanish language schools there too. Make sure you allow enough time there; to really appreciate the people, the history and the outstanding sites.
Antigua is a beautiful city. The city is very clean and well maintained. I always feel safe when in Antigua. The people are delightful. It is to get to just about anything by walking. If too tired you can take a tuk tuk. Many different types of restaurants are there with just about any kind of meal you want from simple and cheap to fine dining.
One of my favorite places to visit. Good shopping and restaurants. Lots of opportunities for side/day trips Amazing history everywhere. Very crowded during Holy Week but the processions and “carpets” on the streets should be on everyone’s bucket list!
Lovely city with many cultural sites, cultural learning opportunities is both international and national tourist location. Take advantage of outdoor & nature adventures to get views of the city, and do hands-on cultural learning activities like make a chocolate bar at ChocoMuseo. Many vendors with variety of food and gift wares in the parks and some posted in random doorway near intersections. HAGGLE (respectfully)! And they seem more respectful when you decline than more aggressive folks in, for ex. Panajachel. Look for station wagons selling empanadas. I wish to return. BE AWARE: This city's grid seems walkable but, unfortunately is absolutely not easy to walk. Inconsistent sizes of cobbles/stone in the road are a serious risk to twisting an ankle for even the normally sure-footed. Sidewalks also not present or even in height everywhere. Sturdy thick soled shoes a must! Not an easily accessible city for those with exceptional balance and mobility needs unfortunately. Tuk tuks are convenient, but very bumpy and have to hold on tight! Not good for more fragile persons.
After 2 month around the lake atitlan, it was very nice to spent to days in a charismatic city with lots of charming places to hang around. probably the only city you wanna see in guatemala. Foodwise you will find everything. good start point for many hikes and outdoor activities
