Set in Panajachel, 47 km from Volcano Atitlan, Selina Atitlan offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. probably one of the best if not the best selinas I stayed in! it’s not beach front. it the facilities are huge and awesome, and they do have a beachfront bar across the road. the breakfast included is amazing, water and coffee for free, the dorm I stayed in was so nice and clean, hot showers; just one of those selinas you confirm why Selina is always a good option, no disappointment

This is a very clean and safe place to stay. I felt very safe being out during the day and at night also. It is easy to get a tuk tuk to take you where you want to go. There are plenty of places to eat with a variety of menu choices. Most menus have vegetarian options. I have never had a problem with finding great food and the prices are very reasonable. If you want to explore the other villages on the lake, it is easy to take a public boat and go anywhere.

It is a central place for you to go to other villages surrounding Panajachel. It is a place were you see locals living their everyday life, so it did not feel very commercialised. Some nice authentic food place to dine with locals

This town is so much fun.
This town is so much fun. Definitely has a tourist trap vibe but the activities here are so much fun. We did an ATV tour to see the sunset. We had a blast! The views were breathtaking. There was some road work that cut our planned tour short but the guild we had was amazing and did what he could to make it a full and worth while experience. Simoon tours was who we went with. Yesua was our guild, though I could be butchering his name, sorry if I am. He was amazing! I would absolutely do other tours they offer, especially if he was the guild again. So much fun!

I loved Hospedaje El Viajero it was tucked away in a little alley right in the center of Panahatchel. It had a beautiful garden a little kitchen and was very relaxing and peaceful to stay there. As soon as I get out to the streets of Panahatchel it was too much hustle and bustle for me. It was very touristy so if you like that it's great otherwise go to a smaller town around the lake.

Panajachel is a perfect location to stay and use as a base for visiting other parts of Lake Atitlan. It is easy to find restaurants and hotels for all budgets. There are plenty of opportunities to travel on the lake using the local public boat system. The villages around the lake each have a different personality and offer something for everyone. It is easy to get money in local currency using the ATM machines around town. Most of the hotels and many of the restaurants accept credit cards. The boats only accept cash, Guatemalan quetzals. Plenty of opportunities for great photos on the streets and at the lake.

This town and many towns around the lake are full of tourist-oriented services to young backpackers looking for a touch of adventure and less Guatemala. Panajachel is not a pretty town, not a particularly clean town but a town that has all you may want or need. The market is full and there is anything you want to eat at any price as well as boats more than willing to take you to San Marcos, San Juan, and San Pedro. While I like Panajachel better than those 3 towns and wouldn't recommend you visit them because they are unappealing in all ways much less the other lake towns I like because they are truly special. Stay in Pana. It's got plenty to do.
