They are meticulously eco friendly without sacrificing customer satisfaction, which is something I prefer, and completely customer focused, which is also an extreme benefit. This is a small resort that IS NOT a one size fits all all-inclusive. Instead, you just let them know what you would like to do, and they will make all the arrangements for you. It's quaint and quiet at night, allowing you to enjoy the sunset from the balcony, but within a 5 minute walk from a night of listening to bands playing or a day of tourist attraction at West End beach. And the ultimate perk....its perfectly safe for a solo traveler to walk to town at anytime.

Also a 5 minute walk to an ATM that dispenses local and US currency AND an Urgent Care clinic/pharmacy. The free breakfast is also delicious and satisfying. Staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. The standard room is cozy but very comfortable and the ocean view room is excellent with its balcony, dining table, and refrigerator.

Five stars definitely for the scuba diving. It is incredible. It is also an affordable place to dive, and there are so many sites available. And a variety of places and instructors.
The area in general is nice, and fairly clean. Dining options are relatively plentiful, and varied in price/environment/style. Hotels as well...plentiful and different prices/styles/environments.
When walking around, sometimes it feels not particularly super safe, but that is more of a feeling rather than seeing anything actually happen when I have been there.
Spanish is spoken...but in tourist related places, English is sometimes even more common.
You can be there for just a couple nights, or for a full week or more...if you like diving and want to do it multiple times, the longer the better obviously, but just a couple nights is plenty also to walk/see the entire area and get at least one dive in before leaving.

Tiny little beach towns that can get overwhelmed with cruise ship passengers.
Great little tourist town to visit for a short stay on an off (cruise ship) day. Watching tourist dodge vehicles due to lack of adequate foot paths is highly entertaining. Travel insurance definitely required to get from one end of town to the other on foot.
Lots of good eats and drinks there.

I like to walk around to west End and visit souvenirs and coffee shop. My favorite spot Costa Dulce Gelato It is a space with a beautiful view of the beach and you can stay sitting for hours in this place.

I was disappointed by how americanised the area is. Some of the beach bars are actually sports bars: I personally don't understand the concept of flying for hours and spending that kind of money to have the same experience as you have at home and felt a little cheated. There are very few charming places.
There are plenty of options for divers: the outfit I used was Reef Gliders and it was great, but they told me by email they are at capacity and i'm pretty sure I could have rocked up last minute, as with most outfits in town. Most of them have their own bar / restaurant, which is great, especially for solo travellers, as you can hang out with the staff and the people you meet diving.
I found everything quite expensive - not so much the diving though, but the food and souvenirs.
I recommend planning / budgeting for trips away from the West End as it is small and can get a little claustrophobic.
Good to know as info isn't clear online: the garifuna village in Punta Gorda organises visits on Sundays. I learned that on the Monday... Maybe a good place to try some local food because West End ain't it.

I’ve enjoyed West End.
I’ve enjoyed West End. Some people did not appreciate the beach vendors, it can be overwhelming how many people approach with packages, services etc. It didn’t bother me, but did see other people complaining.

The area is lively an very diverse.
The area is lively an very diverse. Loved the beaches and Mrs. Nathalie who offers body massages on the beach. Amazing hands as it takes all the stress away. Then a good dinner at Hotel Miamar and then a walkon the strip.
