Lopud is great for a relaxing holiday with no cars and a friendly atmosphere. The views and the sunsets are exceptional. Unfortunately some of the restaurants have now become too expensive for UK visitors.

We went to Lopud direct from Dubrovnik Gruz Port.
We went to Lopud direct from Dubrovnik Gruz Port. Note, its not the port near the Old Town and you need an uber / bus/ taxi to get there if staying in the Old Town. Lopud is incredible island. Will list pros and cons as easier to read:
PRO's: 1)TWO incredible beaches. Beach Lopud is shallow and perfect for just cooling off and young kids. Sandy beach, no need for water shoes. Beach lopud is near the bakeries, supermarket etc.. and most of the accommodation. Beach Sunj (pronounced Shoon) is 30 minute walk or 5 minute golf cart ride on the opposite side of the island. Gorgeous beach, big but very busy. Lots of bars, sunbeds, showers. Pebble beach but sandy in the water. no need for water shoes. Water was clear and beautiful.
CONS: 1) very very expensive. 5.5 euro for a soft drink at a restaurant.
2) very underwhelmed by the restaurants. Everything i ordered was expensive, and i could have made better at home and i'm not the best cook. One night, i ordered a tomato based seafood pasta and it was inedible. They did not charge me for it as i could not eat it.
3) showers on sunj beach are 1EURO to use. This was the first time we came across having to pay for showers. Cavtat they are free. Dubrovnik they were free.
4) sunbeds and umbrellas - 20 EURO for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella. Pricey.
5) lovely island but has run down feel. We loved our stay as we had accommodation right on the beach, which was just surreal but everything else was a little disappointing. Beaches are 5 star but restaurants and supermarkets, 1 star at best.

Beautiful - could be a 'bit part' location for a bond film in the Port - old monastery story church is beautiful. lovely beaches - particularly Sunj beach which is in a stunning cove. You can either walk to the beach from the port (further than i would choose to walk in the heat) or get one of the 'taxis' (golf buggies) will take you the last half of the walk - and the view when you drop down into the bay is such a lovely surprise.
Lots of walking to be done and a really relaxing place - good for a night or a week's stay.

Lopud is a lovely quiet place with no cars.
Lopud is a lovely quiet place with no cars. The vehicles used are of the 'golf buggy' type. The beach at Sunj is lovely and shallow so safe for small children. Walking is a must to get to explore the island. It's approximately 1.5km by road over a quite a steep hill to get from the town on one side to Sunj beach at the other. We walked the journey as it was pleasant to do so, however the 'taxi's' are waiting to take people if mobility is compromised or you don't fancy the hike over the hill!
The town has several restaurants of varying quality offering similar foods. There are also a couple of mini-markets to purchase your own supplies. Not a great lot of choice but sufficient to keep you going. The bakery near to the Hotel Lafodia does superb cakes and pastries.
There are quite a lot of steps to climb if you want to go exploring further out of the town. It's worth the climb to the fortress to get the view. In addition, if you want to explore further afield there are ferries operating to get to Dubrovnik and the other islands nearby.
I would visit the island again as we like smaller less populated places. Having said that, Sunj beach is well know and lots of people came in boats for day trips.

Very laid back island with beautiful scenery and plenty of interesting walks. There is one sandy beach with safe swimming and also bathing off the small beaches in the main centre. There are no busses, cars or motor bikes on the island but transport is available in small golf type buggies. Plenty of restruants but dining can be expensive.

Fabulous scenery, close to busy Dubrovnik, fabulous sunj beach with water sports at a reasonable price, handy taxi buggy service to and from for approximately €2 each way, well worth avoiding the hills in the heat.
Lovely restaurants all along the waterside, plenty of walks if you have the energy! Lovely staff, food and service at Obala Restaurant
Excellent location close to the main dock and restaurants, and the two small grocery stores (by the way, buy anything important you need on the mainland - there is a Konzum right by the ferry). The apartment itself was nicer than on the pictures. We had everything we needed and there was plenty of space. There were two beaches close by with Sunj being the best (one of my favorite beaches) and if you walk about 5 minutes up, there is a cheap golf taxi to Sunj or you can walk for 15 minutes. The island itself is just such a gem.
Placed on the island of Lopud, connected several times a day to Dubrovnik by ferry, these nice appartements are well situated above harbor's level and away from the boardwalk's huzzle and buzzle. Climbing the 150 steps you are rewarded by a beautiful panorama view of the island, the sunsets are simply amazing. Lepa and her husband Martin are very nice, helpful and spoiled us with local wine and figues. You are close to the main beaches of the island, certainly easier to reach without any physical impairments.
The property is a two-bed apartment with a small kitchen and a living room. The apartment has everything you need for your stay. You also have the advantage of having Ana, the owner, next door. She is the most open-hearted and kind host one can ask for. She goes far and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. We will definitely return.
The apartment is part of a row of houses which belong to the locals. So you feel very much part of the life of the island during your stay.
It was huge family trip so we used the whole building.
Excellent distribution of the rooms and bath rooms in each floor.
Awesome views from each room’s window. Clean and very cozy place. Garden and house are decorated very authentic Mediterranean style.
I would love to mention about owner couple, very very nice people. we really enjoyed staying there and Marija and Daniel is one of the reason we would like to visit to Lopud island again. thanks! we will def. visit again!!
Best location, right by the port and beside the strip of restaurants. Amazing view from the room. Nice breakfast. This is not a luxury hotel. It is a modest family owned hotel but has everything you need and is clean and great value for money. The owners and team working there are amazing and will do anything for you. There is lovely art and pictures of lopud all over and has a lovely traditional feel. It is a hotel with heart and charm and i definitely recommend
the sea view from the room was stunning.
the room itself was good and there is an outdoor seating area that gives you a nice view of the bay.
you can choose breakfast (additional cost) and it is made by two adorable women who serve everything homemade straight from the kitchen. the bread was warm, fresh and soooo yummy. even the lemonade is homemade.
it’s totally walkable from the ferry port and after a decent 25-min-walk you’re at the other side of the island.
We always with pleasure return to lopud and precisely to Lafodia. We like the peace and quiet there and the opportunity to relax after a visit from crowded Croatia. Access to a private beach and pool is a very big plus. this year there were quite few people so there was no problem to have access to sun beds . Breakfast a little limited compared to previous years and yet we paid more money as before. However, there is something for everyone.
Beautiful location on a hillside overlooking Lopud beach. The property is surrounded by a beautiful garden, a variety of blooming flowers, cacti, jade plants and wild rosemary with citrus, olive and fig trees cascading down to the waterfront. Our room felt very clean and comfortable with a stunning view from our balcony of the bay. The staff was very nice and helpful. We would definitely recommend Guest House Tomić!
Great communication from the host via WhatsApp. Being walked up to the apartment to save getting lost with luggage!
Fresh lemonade on arrival and we were given fresh fruit on a couple of occasions which was delicious.
The apartment is lovely and spacious. The beds were comfy. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace looking at the gorgeous view of Lopud.
The location is perfect for walking towards both sides (beaches) on the island. The ladies that hosted us at the property were amazing, very kind and helpful.
The best thing is definitely the beautiful view from the terrace.
The place is perfect for getting some good quality rest, since there are no cars and traffic, and the island is beautiful.
Absolutely LOVED my stay here! The view and location were amazing, the value for the money was great, but mostly I enjoyed the people. It feels like you're staying with one big Croatian family, which I just loved. Everyone was so kind. Oh, and the daily, very HUGE, breakfast was a highlight as well!
Nice room.
Nice bathroom.
Friendly and very professional staff.
Lots of amenities.
SPA was great.
Breakfast view amazing.
Location is excellent.
For once, I think the architecture of the building is fine and doesn't destroy the vibe of this nice and quiet island.
Will come back if I'm around.
The staff working at the hotel, restaurants and Spa were excellent. Each of them did a wonderful job making our stay as lovely as possible. We appreciated how kind the staff was and enjoyed talking with them.
Very friendly and helpful staff, fantastic view from the room, beautiful surrounding, great breakfast, very good pickup/transfer service. The litttle beach of the hotel was never too crowded, very relaxing.
The location is fabulous with panoramic views of the sea and islands from the bedroom windows and balcony. We felt like part of the local town life because we were so close to the waterfront.
Host was very helpful arranging airport pick up and boat to island. Beautiful balcony view of island. Host was very nice and friendly. We were met at dock by host!
