The island of Uglijan is an absolutely amazing island that is not yet heavily affected by tourism, so you are more likely to meet Croatian locals here. Easy transport to the island by ferry at a great price. The island also features attractions such as the Sveti Mihovil fortress and the 6th-century ruins of Pustograd. The island is not as crowded as the tourist cities on the mainland. The ferry port, Preko, has nice restaurants and shops. There is bus service although it seems more sparse since there are a lot of cars on the island. We used it several times to get to Preko. Uber is unreliable. Cabs are available but it can become expensive if you have to use them a lot. A lot of people use bikes to get around. Ugljan is gorgeous: green, authentic. In the village of Ugljan just a couple of restaurant but of high quality with fresh food (you can also buy your fish in the morning market at the harbour). More restaurants in Preko. To visit the island is very easy, in 20 minutes you go from Ugljan to Preko. Strongly suggested the beach of Muline, Preko for the evening (more restaurants and bars than in the other villages of the island) and the S. First we planned to travel frequently to the “main” land or other islands, but then felt so comfortable and in peace, that spent most of days by the villa, enjoining the nearest beaches, the pool and gorgeous view on the sunsets. Property is very well maintained, has everything you need even for the longer stay, and was spotlessly clean.
