I found service in Balatonfüred uneven. The low point was restaurant Il Lago at the lakefront: despite looking inviting, the service felt dismissive and the prices were high for what we received. As cyclists, we really liked the well-marked bike paths. There is a beautiful promenade on the shore with stalls selling local products. You can rent a colorful boat to ride on the lake, or take a train for a half-hour ride around the city. There is always something going on on the promenade too. Balatonfured is a beautiful place on Lake Balaton.
Balatonfured is a beautiful place on Lake Balaton. The old town area was very impressive. Lots of big old villas and houses. with huge old shady trees. The port area was nice for strolling , lots of shops and restaurants, ferries departing to other parts of the lake. The strand stroll was wonderful , very scenic looking at the lake , lots of areas to sit , bike and walking paths. Lovely town with lots of flowers and trees, very clean, tidy and safe even in the evening. Not loud even in the evening was very quiet near the beach. Preferred Kisfaludy beach (strand). Parking is free next to the building. The temperature of the room was pleasant, there was no one in the building apart from us. The best cafes and restaurants in the area, we took a great walk on the beach. Balatonfured is a very pleasant settlement, where you can relax, drink wine, take a walk, go hiking, not only in the summer, but also outside of it. We had the apartment with two bedrooms. Spacious, well equipped and super clean and modern. The pool is great and not crowded at all (which is great because the beaches are). Two days we pretty much had it for ourselves. The host and owner - Csilla was just amazing! Very kind and helpful.
