If you want away from the mass tourism, small town, small problems, cheap local food, very nice local market. train is cheap but the service is not too good quality, old cars and no AC, delays. Architecture is typical hungarian country side. In summer could be very hot.

For the European soccer contest 2024 the town set up two huge screens in the park, there were table and chairs, also shade and food stalls. The atmosphere was great. I had been recommended the restaurant Leves`M by a friend and ended up eating there three times. Great food and lovely and helpful staff (I don't speak much Hungarian).

Kecskemét is full of Art Nouveau buildings, museums, expecially about painting, history and design. I've been lucky to stay in this city just during a music/folk/theatre festival at the end of August. Moreover, at half hour of car there is the "puszta" of Bugac, with an open air museum of traditional peasant life, included horse shows.

Found the place on booking and chose it for the proximity to Budapest and the it was cheap, but there was a reason for it. The land lady was stropy and demanded cash that wasn’t even reflecting the booking.com price. Booked for £77 the land lady wanted €100. She said I should cancel the reservation and pay her cash but cancellation fee was £85. She spoke no English and her underage grandson was interpreting. The place looked dodgy and feeling unsafe. Ended up bidding good bye this place

Everything is in a walking distance in this charming town.
Everything is in a walking distance in this charming town. Very friendly people, although hardly anyone speaks English. The downside is that you can have a meal in a restaurant only until 3 pm, after that most places are closed. Most shops close at 6 pm, so if you plan any shopping do it in the morning.DraganaSerbia - Scored 8.08.0
It is a good place to stop for a day or two at most.
It is a good place to stop for a day or two at most. The main square has some unique and attractive art nouveau architecture. There are a couple of excellent restaurants (Bagatel) and pastry shops (Fodor cukraszda). A day and a half are more than enough to see what the town has to offer. The one of a kind Cifra palota has an exhibit worth seeing, and the park in the centre of the town has pleasant gardens. The Four Points Sheraton Hotel is an excellent place to stay.

Our room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable, the aircon worked perfectly. Parking was convenient and free. Breakfast was good. The staff was generally friendly and helpful. Since we had a car, the hotel's location in a residential area of Kecskemét, about 10 minutes drive from the centre, was perfect for us.TamaraHungary

The building is relatively old but very well revamped and inside it looks really good. The room was nice and spacious and had a cool balcony overlooking the Kecskemét’s main square. Bathroom was comfy and clean. The biggest plus for the location though - everything is within a very short walking distance.
