To me, Pécs was a very positive surprise.
To me, Pécs was a very positive surprise. When deciding to stop there for a rest day on a 3 week motorcycle trip around Europe, I was hoping for some urban area where I would not get bored the first hour. With no research before arriving, we went for dinner the first night, and happened upon an outdoor restaurant in the castle ruins. On the surface it looked like a tourist trap, but food, service and pricing was great. The next day we went for a walk, again without much research and explored the center of the city, a very beautiful and historically important area as we learned. We had great food in some of the many restaurants, and we visited the UNESCO Heritage ruin as well as the basilica / cathedral. All in all, I am impressed.Guest review byKaiNorway - 10.0

Pécs is a place where anyone would find something for themselves: great historical buildings, museums, a zoo, lookout towers, walking tours, etc. A lot of nice restaurants. For those loving ice cream, "Mecsek Cukrászda" at Széchenyi Square is a must.Guest review byBernadettUnited Kingdom - 10.0
