The town had a faded elegance, occasional classical motifs contrasted with missing rendering. I enjoyed eating a meal at a restaurant on the main pedestrianised drag, watching the girls and boys go by, the boys looking very sharp with stylish haircuts, but sitting at benches on the opposite side of the street to the girls. The border with Slovakia was at the end of a nearby street and maybe the town had a greater importance when Hungary was much bigger before the first World war.
Satorajujhely is very near the holiday accomodation. Very attractive old town with history. Enjoyed talking to people, who were pleased to talk. The town is also very near to castles and palaces which are well worth a visit. The view over the wooded mountains from the Karoly Var, which was built on top of a small mountain, is breathtaking. Hungarians very friendly and polite and really open up if one can speak some Hungarian. However, quite a few people understand English and are anxious to try it.
