A clean, comfortable room with great amenities. Ana was a wonderful host, very helpful and accommodating. A good location for exploring. We added a delicious breakfast one day cooked by Ana. My highlight was the gorgeous kitten who greeted us every day.

Absolutely fantastic I really liked it. The place is beautiful with a nice pool and the location in the town center. They have a really nice restaurant that serves good local and Italian food. I think the biggest highlight for me though is the staff. They were so kind and helpful and support, they helped me with everything with tours with the Motorbike with train tickets basically with everything. They made my stay very comfortable and peaceful. I’m very grateful for their support. I would totally recommend to stay, it’s a little bit on the pricier side, but I totally worth it.

    ijen is pretty much overrated, it's a nice 6-hour-ish hike...

    ijen is pretty much overrated, it's a nice 6-hour-ish hike with above medium difficulty, the flame is underwhelming which is slightly bigger than a camp fire and the crater? go to Bromo instead. With the current volcano incident related to the Brazilian tourist, I am more convinced that people should be aware of tour guide's quality and training in East Java. Upon reading some brief information about traveling to Ijen, I found to mandatory in getting a guide, I went there alone and caught weird looks from other guides, some avoided my interactions when they found out I was alone, some others was good and paying attention.

    This area is a gem.

    This area is a gem. We stayed in Kalibaru and in Licin and visited Plantation De Grote Tuin in Kalibaru (a top visit as yu learn so much about the cultivation of spices, coffee, rubber, coco brown sugar, etc.) and also highly sustainable. In Licin we visited IJEN CRATER, which is spectular although very busy, and there are many other things to do in this area.

    Great city to visit if you want to hike up Gunung Ijen for sunrise. It's an icnredible hike, not too difficult, with some of the best views we have seen in all our 8 months travelling Southeast Asia. Banyuwangi was a very clean and friendly city with lots of cheap restaurants and we felt very safe walking in the evening. Stay at Snooze Ijen if you visit here!

    Lovely wee spot surrounded by nature. Good food spots on the main route u to town and lots of rice paddies and tranquility out near Juda homestay. Very convenient place to stay if arriving in Banyuwangi by train

    WONDERFUL CITY! The hidden gem in the most east of Java There are lot of beautiful things there in Banyuwangi: wonderful Mt. Ijen with one of 2 blue fires in the world, many beautiful nature both mountains, waterfall also ocean nature and savannah, cultures, traditional music/dances and typical food, etc.. etc.

    There are plenty of lovely places to visit in Java and...

    There are plenty of lovely places to visit in Java and Banyuwangi is not one of them. However if you drive 30 minutes into the mountains there was some lovely homestays with views of the padi fields and dense forest which I would recommend.

    I loved this little hostel in Banyuwangi, it was spotlessly clean, very quiet, the beds were so comfortable, the showers were amazing, the family who own the hostel live next door and are such kind helpful people. The free breakfast included is so delicious, way better than a lot of the free breakfasts other hostels include. This is the perfect spot to stay in Banyuwangi if you want to explore the surrounding area. I did the Ijen tour through the hostel and ended up doing it with a small group and a really great guide so would 100% recommend.

    An excellent hotel complex. Set in beautifully maintained gardens within its own security compound. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, also very good shower. The breakfast selection was outstanding as was the evening Iftar buffet. The staff in the hotel were extremely welcoming and always attentive and helpful. It was a pleasure staying there and we'd have no hesitation whatsoever in booking again. Thank you.

    I stayed in the dorm, and it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve had in Indonesia. The beds were soft, each had a power outlet, and towels were provided. The common areas made it easy to meet other backpackers, and the staff was very friendly. I also loved the shared kitchen—being able to cook was a huge plus. Would definitely recommend this place to any solo traveler heading to Banyuwangi!
