We had a wonderful stay at Blue Mathis and could not recommend it more highly. The villas, pool and grounds are stunning, just like the pictures- and the staff incredibly attentive and lovely. We appreciated the hotel’s help arranging taxi on our trip from Lembogan and boat to the island, even on short notice. We especially enjoyed the view from our villa and the lovely covered restaurant by the pool, not only when the sun was shining but during some pretty dramatic rain storms (it is rainy season!!). Many thanks!

Superb place with nice n friendly people, good food and beautiful beach. We stayed here for 10 nights and had an amazing stay. Rooms are nice and comfortable, pool is amazing and food is just too good, best one on the island. The kitchen staff even made special arrangements to show and teach us some recipes. The resort is very beautiful and well maintained. Massage is good and the set up is very nice & relaxing, right on the beach. We had to go for diving early morning and the staff made sure to take care of the kids. Kids were sad to leave the place. We made some good friends and by the end of the stay it was like leaving home. Many many thanks to Firman, Amir and every member of the staff for making our stay so special.

Beautiful location, beachfront. Lovely staff. Had a wonderful massage there and went on a snorkeling trip they organised. This island has three excellent reefs just off shore, live coral, plenty of fish. Saw a turtle on my last morning here. When I'm back on Gili Asahan, this is where I'll stay.

Everything was just amazing! Very nicely built and maintained, very friendly and well trained staff, comfortable beds, great amenities, good food, many activities to do, and even better to chill by the beach and read, 2 nights was just not enough.

The place is very quiet, amazing bird singing in the morning. House reef right in front of the hotel is stunning! Staff is very friendly and they keep rooms clean even though you bring tons of sand every day

Excellent beach front location. Sunrise over the water. Magnificent moon rise too. Maree and her team are wonderful. June is a real gentleman. Maree is an excellent snorkeling guide- pointed out creatures we would have missed. There is also a house reef - I visited the blue coral every day! Great air-conditioning for the hot afternoons, and always the view of the ocean

Only 4 smaller bungalows and I believe, one larger family-style bungalow, so not many guests. The place is nice and peaceful, with a great restaurant offering both local and western options. I chose this place for the adjoining dive centre: the equipment is very well maintained, and the staff are super nice! The boat departs directly from the resort around 9am, and after two dives, we were back around 1-2pm. Just in time to lounge on a sunbed for the rest of the afternoon. I highly recommend this place, especially for divers! Although we did see some turtles, I would say the main attractions of the dives are macro, with tons of different types of nudibranchs and frogfishes.

    Gili Asahan is so laid back. The staff were so welcoming The food was delicious and so was the coffee! Sleeping in a Bale was fabulous and the bed was super comfy. I didn't bother with the blinds, just slept under the mosquito nets The horse walk is a lovely experience 🐎 Would recommend Gili Asahan Eco Lodge 💜

    Not the best island I have been too.

    Not the best island I have been too. Was quite hot with no air conditioning or tv. But was good to do without. Internet only available around the resteraunt. Because there was not much to do most people spent thier time on the internet. The italian resteraunt in the other hotel was crap. The biggest deterrent to most travellers was the amount of plastic floating around in the beaches. Not the fault of the hotel.

    This sea water is quite clear with very little plastic. The water is heavenly, with quiet seas because of it’s location. The hotel we stayed at was on the Lombok side of the island, so the seas were calm, and often still like a lake. This area feels quite remote, and you won’t see many if any tourists when you are boating around. So there is a sense of seclusion and being in a remote location. This would be a nice area to take a sailboat if you can find one to rent. They will be increasing the number of fast boats scheduled to go to this area soon, so that it’s faster to go direct to Gili Gede from Bali every day, instead of the twice weekly (Monday and Friday) schedule available now. We had to take a fast boat to Bengsal and drive 2 1/2 hours because we booked our hotel on a Saturday instead of Friday, not knowing that we couldn’t just get a fast boat direct to Gili Gede any day but Monday and Friday. There are only 4 places to stay on the island at this time, and we stayed at Amahelia, which is by far the nicest. Someone from Belgium is building a really nice resort on this island that will have 20 villas with private pools, we heard. It is still under construction. Gili Asahan is definitely worth adding to your list of places to go for a quiet, remote and peaceful trip, with wonderful seas to swim and boat in.
