Medan is an interesting city with a mix of different cultures - Batak, Javanse Achenese, Chinese. There are some excellent restaurants - in the old China Town. I recommend Cambridge Mall for Restaurants and Cinemas. I also recommend visiting Berastagi , 3 hours by car. Medan is a big, noisy, dusty city. Nothing to do here or no memorable sights, although the mosques are pleasant to lok at. Enough shopping malls though to pass a day. Easy to get around as GRAB. We went to Medan solely so we could visit the Orangutans in the wild - we were totally successful in this enterprise. Only one day was required in visiting Mount Leuser National Park. Three tourist sites stood out for us - they could all be visited in one further full day: Tjong A Fie Mansion Maximum Palace Rahman International Wildlife Museum (quite expensive at Rp 300,000 each) We spent 6 nights in Medan - we could have done it all easily in 3 nights! Medan is such a healing place to go. Less than one hour flight from KUL-KNO and very peaceful in lake toba. I suggest to just spend time in Lake Toba as the place serve you with beautiful nature scenery that can calm your mind. I think the restaurant should've open ealier cause I am really starving and craving for food in the morning. The people was nice and affable. When we asked questions, they wore a smile and answered patiently. The becak and angkut were great, l enjoyed the breeze and the city view. Deli Park was majestic ✨️ and also Tjong A Fie Mansion was spectacular and historical. What I like the most in Medan is definitely the Medan people! They are amiable, helpful snd loving !
