The location is amazing, great views from the rooftop and very close access to the Mount bromo and Sea of sand. The daily dinner was really good and the host created a good atmosphere with all the other guests. Furthermore he advised me on a really cool (and challenging) route to drive to Mt Bromo by motorbike giving me a very unique experience.

This is the biggest surprise of my Indonesia trip! This place located in a small town near Malang. It runs by a family and Mrs. Mary took 2 of her independent rooms as hotel. There is super nice mountain view and the whole atmosphere is sooo chill. The room is quite big. The host even gave us some passion fruits and papaya grown from their farm. It is not far from Mt. Bromo and Tumpak Sewu - both takes 1.5h to drive there. There are hardly any tourists in this small town and when we were walking to a restaurant, the people were so curious and greeting us friendly, the kids on the street waved to us and say hello. It was such an amazing experience! The sunset of with rice field view in the small town is also really really beautiful. There is also a good and modern restaurant 20 min walk from our stay and it is designed to see the sunset with a big balcony, the food is very nice too

This is a fantastic hostel and experience. It is basic and outside of town center, but that makes it way better than other options (you don't want to stay in Malang center). Beds are comfy and private. Included breakfast is hearty healthy and delicious. They arrange all the tours (Bromo, Sewu, etc) at great comparative rates. Best of all, the hosts are phenomenal!.. Helpful, happy, engaging, and will do whatever it takes to make your stay and experience in the area as awesome as possible. Highly recommend staying here!

This is the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Everything is new and in great shape, and the facilities couldn’t be better. There are two bathrooms/showers and a large area outside the bathrooms where the two sinks and big mirror is. Beds are cozy and have blinds which is always a bonus. There’s seating as well and a huge open space in the room which I loved. There is also a kettle and coffee station which was lovely in the morning! They had a snack bar you could purchase various items from as well. The homemade breakfast in the morning was filling and delicious and lunch/dinner is available for purchase too at a great price. I took advantage of that both evenings and was highly satisfied! There is a balcony attached to the room that is spacious, has a nice seating area, it’s filled with gorgeous plants AND it has an incredible view. In front you can see the street and local houses and to the side you can watch the sunset over the mountains and fields. That was a major highlight for me! Walk out at night too to see the stars and the moon - you won’t get that in the middle of the city :) The hosts are so kind, genuine and helpful! They really went above and beyond with helping me and I’d come back to this place just for them! The motorcycle ride to the hostel from the train station is beautiful as you drive along fields and forests and you feel like you’re away from the city even though you’re still very close. This was a bonus for me! If you wanna be surrounded by some nature and enjoy the quiet evenings, this is the spot! This is the place to stay while in Malang, especially if your main activity is a Mount Bromo tour, it’s on the way and a convenient location for your Jeep driver to pick you up. Stay here!! :)

We adored staying at this hotel. First of all, I would like to thank the management for being eco-sensitive. I wish hotels would take exemple of you and use reusable cute little shampoo and conditioner bottle and bar soap. Everything was wrapped in brown paper rather than plastic. The complimentary sweets they gave at the end was also in recycle paper . They filled up nice glass bottle of water in our room rather than giving plastic one. This hotel just made our vacation in Indonesia so much better. What I liked so much was that it was not your generic modern hotel. The hotel has character! The pool and the building is breath taking but every hall every corridor every common rooms is unique and filled with art and history. If you book this hotel , go explore ! Take the guided tour of the hotel and learned about its history , go enjoy the complimentary free massage, taste their sweets baked on site, enjoy the complimentary free afternoon tea and coffee. We went everyday and were stunned to see that they changed the various treats everyday. All the staff are nice but then again I came to realize Indonesian are the nicest people I have met in my life. Bottom line is beautiful hotels are not that hard to find, but hotels were you create memories are, and I'll definitely remember staying at Tugu Malang all my life.

Incredible place to stay. Clean rooms, wonderful facilities, amazing breakfast and they even give you a welcome gift! We stayed for three nights and we could have stayed a million more! Hotel is connected to an Italian restaurant, so you can even order pizza while lounging by the pool! Best place to stay in Malang!!! Kind and thoughtful staff too - all around perfect hotel!
