The location was perfect as we were driving to the cliffs of Moher the following day (and we highly recommend a visit to Margaret’s bar down the road). The staff was absolutely lovely and the rooms were perfect! Even the parking was great!

Unforgettable experience! Surrounding area is very calm and beautiful (btw there is a very good fish restaurant in the nearby sea village). The house is more like a castle or a palace with rich, aristocratic interior full of history. Moreover, and it's a little bit of a spoiler, there is a water spring inside! The room we stayed in was also quite unique. This accomodation is very thoughtful, relaxing and inspiring.

Fairly big B&B in the Burren area. Wonderfully quiet, very nice room with everything one could want. Great view out onto pastures. The owners are super nice and welcoming. Choice of breakfast is hard as everything is freshly cooked and very tasty. :-) Ballyvaughan is small yet there are a number of great restaurants in the area.

The cottage was cozy and welcoming, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom, and well equipped kitchenette. As an added bonus, our host provided scones, cereals, milk, eggs, butter and jam for a lovely breakfast. We only had a quick overnight stay, but everything was perfect and we'd highly recommend it.

What Guests Said About Ballyvaughan:

Ballyvaughan is a lovely town.

Ballyvaughan is a lovely town. We went to a seasonal farmer's market and got some lovely art by a local artist. We wished me made a dinner reservation at Duke's but was able to get there the next day for lunch instead. We had a rental car, but ended up walking back from town which was about 15 min and used a safety vest from the lodge. The road is narrow and dark, but we got back safely. There are 2 cab/drivers in town and we were not able to reach either so make your own transportation plans. We went to the Aillwee Burren Experience and had a good time - it was raining, but they had covered areas and it was just fine. The Birds of Prey portion was just amazing, but the cave tour was also excellent.

It has great potential but over the last few years it has disimproved. It used to be much more buzzy, with many more shops and venues open. Still, it is close to so many lovely places to swim and walk. Monks was ok, we got shunted out of table as bigger group was coming in, and the food was just ok. Went to brillant old bar, O Laughlinns I think. Great, packed, lovely atmosphere, atmospheric, but nearly had a heart attach at the price of two very good whiskeys. Couldnt do this too often. Far less tourists around, I wonder why?

While a bit off the beaten path, Ballyvaughan was a very pleasant place to stay. The room (and bath) were comfortable and felt like a cozy stay in a hunting lodge. The breakfast was terrific!! The location is in/near the Burren, so the location is good. We were on our way to Galway, so it was a good mid-way/stopping point for us.

Ballyvaughan is a quiet little village hugging the shores of The Atlantic Ocean. There is a wide selection of accommodation suppliers to choose from. The location is very pretty, a great place if you want to take in an evening stroll by the seashore. There are a small number of shops in the area, such as local craft shops & cafes. I believe there is a craftmarket offering homemade & homegrown items direct. It is very easy to walk around and experience the beautiful surroundings.

We hiked in the Burren National Park (which is free), and that was lovely. It's very rocky, so I'd recommend bringing hiking boots or really durable shoes if you're planning on going on some of the more difficult trails. We ate at Leanne's Lobster Bar and Monk's Seafood - both were great, though their menus do overlap quite a bit (but we enjoyed something different both nights).

Very little choice of places to eat or have a coffee.

Very little choice of places to eat or have a coffee. Tea rooms not open at 11am on Thursday as suggested. Had a fab dinner at Monks and on a return visit next morning at 1130am had great tea n scones in front of blazing stove. Superb.

We stayed for two nights at Ballyvaughan Lodge and it was a wonderful experience. There was a huge range of delicious fresh food for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and everything clean and cosy in the room. The friendly welcome from the hosts was something special. All round a great place to stay and we’ll be back!
