Oh loved Buncrana ,beautiful small town and easy to get around. The people were helpful and inviting. We visited the famine village and a very interesting and well presented tour. The restaurant the tank and skinny down by the pier is well worth a visit. The food also in the hotel the Harbour inn was very nice and value for money. Beautiful beaches.
Since we only stayed 1 night it is hard to judge there is a lot of action along Main Street but mainly occupied by young people.especially at night Would have liked to have seen a couple of Souvenir shops selling local products particularly Donegal tweed & other local hand made products.
A beautiful location next to lough Swilly. We walked the heritage trail which has great views and is full of information. Swann park is a very scenic location the path runs right next to a beautiful river. The town has a wealth of bars and some good restaurants. The people we met were all friendly and helpful to visitors.
Buncrana is a fabulous place to stay , great locality for exploring and visiting a car is a must though for that . The town has a mixture of shops , lots of eating options with some really nice local food , was never disappointed with any food that I ate . As for local pubs with music a MUST visit is O'Flaherty's -great live music and the locals are fab . It is a family run pub and Michael and his staff made us both feel very welcome , top marks to them all . If you have never been to Buncarana you are missing out , will definitely be going back .
I used Buncrana as a base as I wanted to visit Malin Head and other local attractions. Buncrana has beaches, golf courses aswell as the ususl bars and restaurants. Try to visit Inch and An Grianan Aileach.

Our first purpose in going to Ireland was to explore family roots. Little did we know that the visit would become so much more, as we met the most gracious people, took in breathtaking views at every turn, and got a sense of a culture that is proud of its history and attempts to keep family and relationships with both persons and nature in the forefront instead of succombing to extreme commercialism. The owners of Millbrae House intruduced us and welcomed us to an Ireland we will never forget. Even before we arrived, Gabrielle had researced our family from information I had. She went way beyond what she needed to do, but expressed she enjoyed it. Through her, we met several persons who are possible relations. Everyone was welcoming and gave us a sense of being a part of the Buncrana area even if distantly. The Millbrae House was a wonderful haven. It was peaceful with a lovely garden. It seems we lacked nothing to feel comfortable and relaxed. The house is 2 story. We did not need the upstairs area, but had plenty of room downstairs to stretch out. The bed and ensuite were comfortable and accommodating. The kitchen/dining/sitting area is open and met all needs. We spent time sitting at the table listening to Irish Public radio. Another TV room is actually a sunroom that expands the house. The location of Millbrae House toward the bottom of the hill on Main Street is an easy walk to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and pubs. We enjoyed the Excelsior Pub and the Cottage Pub where we listened to live traditional Irish Music. You can access roads to the countryside to explore nature and the surrounding towns. Within 3 minutes of the house one day, we found ourselves on a very small and secluded-feeling road surrounded by pastoral fields and hills. Again, Gabrielle and Tony have a wonderful accommodation in Millbrae House and strive to make guests very comfortable. Thank you, Gabrielle and Tony, for all your kindness and attention.

Brian is a most congenital host, not quite up to speed when checking in guests though that's more to do with his computer skills which for many of us can be challenging. The rooms are immaculately clean though our bathroom a little small. Not only did Brian book a table for us at " The Beach House", excellent choice, but he drove us to the restaurant plus gave great directions back if we chose to walk. He gave us his cell number if we wanted a ride back to B&B. The shower worked very well. We stayed on Friday night & since our bedroom was at the rear of the house I had difficulty getting to sleep because of a live band playing nearby. Food was very good but way too much. I wish I had asked for 2 things, a mini fry & my egg cooked with a runny yolk. One other guest asked for a similar order & she was accommodated. Absolutely would make a stop here if coming to Buncrana.
