Hotel in Buncrana
Located in picturesque Buncrana, The Inishowen Gateway Hotel offers a luxury spa, a 20-yard pool, and a modern Irish restaurant. Brilliant experience at this hotel from start to finish! We were checked in early, which was very much appreciated with a 10 month old baby. Facilities are superb, from the pool to the soft play area. We ate bar food which was very tasty, as was the breakfast, and we sat people watching in the foyer. Staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. A great hotel to which we will definitely return in the near future!

Located a 16-minute walk from Buncrana Beach, St Columbs House has accommodations with a shared lounge, a garden and a 24-hour front desk for your convenience. This was one of the most incredible stays on our trip of Donegal. We were in the Deluxe 4 poster room and boy oh boy did it live up to my expectations. The room was so tastefully designed with all the the extras included and more! The bathroom had both a shower and a clawfoot bathtub (Instagram pic worthy). The room was extremely clean and the perfect temperature throughout our stay. The host greeted us with open arms and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. He even drove us to our dinner reservation that evening free of charge, which was an extremely thoughtful gesture. The breakfast the next morning was also lovely, with yogurts, tea/coffee and a full Irish Fry. The house itself is stunning inside with exuisite detail throughout. I will be recommending this to both family and friends as a must stay accommodation in the beautiful Donegal.

Beautiful Room Buncrana provides accommodations with a garden and free WiFi, and is located in Buncrana. A continental breakfast is served at the property. The property was clean, someone previously had put up a post that the property was dirty, but I believe this was done mischievously , we found it very clean, in the evening the landlord give us a lift into town to eat dinner which was great. The breakfast is a basic continental breakfast, but everything is there, the owners where very helpful & give us a lift to Buncrana ferry in the morning, couldn’t complain about anything in the property.

We visit Buncrana regularly, unfortunately it is being affected by Covid 19, as I suppose, everywhere else, I would strongly recommend the town to anyone in normal times, lets hope we can get back to them times soon. The coastal walk from the town to Stragill beach is great, Dunree fort and coffee shop worth a visit, Glenevin waterfall is great in nearby Clonmany where they would have the festival early August, great weekend on the streets with good Irish bands and great craic.
Buncrana has a lot going for it, from walks along the paths above the beach and views of lough Swilly, to the restaurants and cafes in the town. The Tank and Skinny's beside the beach is worth a visit. Not far from Derry, and the locals are friendly. No shortage of beaches to explore a short drive away.
If you would like to get closer to the real people and history of Donegal you couldn't be better placed. One fascinating thing I observed in Buncrana was that so many people seem to know each other. It's great to be able to become a small temporary part of that vibrant community.
Buncrana is convenient for touring the peninsula. Also, it has on its doorstep a beautiful coastal walk along Lough Swilly that begins at the Cahir O'Doherty castle and stretches for miles. The fort and museum overlooking the Lough at nearby Dunree has a fascinating history and is definitely worth visiting. Every visitor should also take the short drive (about 25 minutes) to Doagh Famine Village. Pat Doherty will take you on a tour that you will never forget. He is not only aware how the famine impacted on the local community, but he is a mine of information on Ireland's social, cultural and political history.
This is a very busy town. It lets itself down by its lack of signs when you go out of the town. There is some beautiful coves about that we came across by accident.there is a lot of sporting activities. There is plenty of shops pubs and restaurants to
Rented a car in Dublin, wanted to see the country side and we were successful! Got lost but had the best adventure! The signage was not amazing. It was so nice to be away from the crowds. Farmers were so nice but other locals in the county Dongal were not. Our hotel had a beautiful location but the staff was rude and unfriendly
