Cavan Town has a lot of historical buildings and is also associated with historical figures including Percy French, the musician, artists and performers. The Town is worth visiting and there is an excellent road system and an excellent bus service also. The Town has great potential and maybe this is not being fulfilled. There is a multicultural community and you will be able to 'experience' many different cultures and attend different cultural events etc. You need also to be aware of the cultural sensitivities around you as those coming from different ethnic backgrounds may have different approaches as to how things are done and also different expectations as well. You need to be aware that similar to Northern Ireland, you are in a 'divided' community. There is a strong cross border influence as the Town of Enniskillen is a short distance from Cavan Town. You must also remember that you are in the Republic of Ireland and not Northern Ireland. Border communities are still 'growing' communities and 'the past' is still a sensitive subject including the 1920ies. Enjoy yourself and respect everyone and you will have an excellent time in Cavan Town.

A nice town to walk around with parks and ring roads.

A nice town to walk around with parks and ring roads. One-way traffic which makes it a little confusing but there are several big carparks. Plenty of coffee shops and little restaurants around the town. Traditional music session in Blessings Pub on a Thursday evening not to be missed.

Loved the drumlin roads, like being on a gentle rollercoaster. Very friendly people. The Cavan County Museum was fascinating, moving, imaginative, comprehensive. One of the best I've seen. Quite difficult to see the lakes with all the lush foliage. Beautiful when sighted.

Loved visiting the home county of my ancestors.

Loved visiting the home county of my ancestors. Hoped to find family connections, but I will need to come back to research more. The tourist info office was very helpful as was Harold Johnston in Black Lion😊. Although we didn’t explore the hiking and lakes, that will be on my next journey. Cavan is a treasure!

Breakfast service staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the home made bread was to die for. The food at dinner was very good, the hotel is an excellent location for touring around Co. Cavan and the surrounding area.
