Excellent service from checkin to checkout, very charming, comfortable hotel. Lovely dinner (with a wonderful guitarist serenading us!!). Easy to get to and from Shannon Airport. Loved going to this hotel and this town, a little off the beaten track, but well worth visiting if you want to see the real Ireland-can't wait to return!!

FAQs about hotels in Limerick

There Once Was a Gem on the Shannon…

Limerick revels in one of Ireland’s most iconic views – the River Shannon curving past King John’s Castle, a 12th-century fortress that could have come straight from a Grimm fairytale. Frank McCourt wrote ‘Angela’s Ashes’ about his childhood here, and his former school is a museum about him, set amid elegant Georgian architecture in the Newtown Pery district. Equally attractive is the custom house, now housing the Hunt Museum's eclectic collection of art and artefacts.

The 12th-century St Mary’s Anglican Cathedral is the city’s oldest building used daily, while St John’s Catholic Cathedral has Ireland’s tallest spire. The coexistence of the two is symbolic of the 17th-century accord between Jacobites and Williamites, supposedly signed on the Treaty Stone.

The Milk Market is a bustling hub of local produce sellers, and the shops of pedestrian Cruises Street are surrounded by restaurants and bars offering great nightlife, including some where you can jig to traditional Irish folk tunes.

The city is also sports mad. Munster Rugby play in Thomond Park, while the Gaelic Grounds ring with the sounds of hurling and Gaelic football supporters. Golf courses, a racecourse and greyhound stadium complete the picture.

Booking.com’s Limerick accommodation includes luxury hotels with spas and swimming pools, and cheap apartments near Shannon Airport.

Limerick was somewhere I have wanted to visit, for no real reason. I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend it or return myself. Everyone was really nice ad the town is no reflection on them. From Google a highlight was a view of the town from a bridge!! If that is the highlight it is really struggling. The best thing about that bridge was it was the exit road out of town. Sorry Limerick. Maybe I missed something so this could be an unfair review.

Limerick is a lovely city with the river Shannon running through it. It is lovely to stroll by the river or sit on one of the many benches and have a coffee. There's lots of shops, bars, restaurants, museums and art galleries to visit and of course King John's Castle For fans of Frank McCourt's wonderful Angela's Ashes, it's lovely to visit and see where the young Frank grew up

I needed medical care right off the bat and the clinic in Limerick was responsive and caring. We were only in Limerick on our way to and from other places in Ireland so I can't speak to attractions from experience. But I felt well taken care of both at the Urgent Care Clinic (get travel insurance!) and our wonderful hotel, Woodfield House in Limerick.

The location in city centre, the character of the building, the room and the comfy beds, the parlour with complimentary tea/coffee, wine and chocolates, the superb breakfast with many locally sourced produce used. The staff were most helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this townhouse I have travelled the world and the Bedford Townhouse rates as one of my top 10 hotel stays.

The hotel served a very good full Irish breakfast. The room was a nicely furnished ensuite and gave the possibility of a good night's sleep, with not too far to drive into Limerick after picking up my hire car after arriving at Shannon Airport. Reception is manned at all times, so no problem with a later check-in after a long day travelling to Ireland.
