I happened across the monthly get together of the singers club in the little pub . It was great to spend the evening hearing lovely songs and yarns and they made me feel special and sang some australian songs for me . There was a young girl about 10 who had the most beautiful voice .i will definately time my next visit to join them again.
Great place great hosts . Loved everything about it. Would suggest prospective visitors read what's on offer as we did . Fabulous value for money close to places we wished to visit. Dog friendly a real bonus . Comfy bed and duvet spotless en suite with power shower. Downside having to leave
Abbeyfeale is one of the many towns you will find around Ireland. At first you might think that this is not even a town but a village, however villages in Ireland are even smaller and with less facilities as opposed to towns. Abbeyfeale is a small town, you will find anything you need however everything is located close to the square. If you are not staying close by you will have to travel to the square to get 'things' done, like shopping for basic needs, pubs & restaurants etc. There isn't a lot of choice really, a handful of pubs and even less restaurants. We found the food at the 'Leens Hotel' restaurant to be the best option and quality & the staff there are TRULY friendly and will go out of their way to help you (even with day tour ideas and directions, not necessarily just the food) :). The location is perfect if you want to explore the South West area of Ireland. The Ring Of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Cliffs of moher are all 'close' by. If you are not staying in Abbeyfeale and just passing by, you will see most of the town any ways because everything is centered around the main road.
Abbeyfeale is a very friendly town with lots of pubs and fast food takeaways that open till late in the evening but lacks restaurants that serve meals after 6pm. The only places to have a proper meal are Leens Hotel up till 9.30 and a Chinese restaurant just round the corner by Leens. There are plenty of shops and two large supermarkets including Tescos but no large chain stores. There are also two banks and a post office. There are no theatres, cinemas or swimming pools.
Abbeyfeale is an inbetween town, between limerick and kerry. But worth a stop for a bite to eat and an overnight stay if you are tired driving!! has a nice chinese on main street and pub grub and also a supervalu and a tesco!! !!!
