Monaghan town seems to have no real focal centre but this doesn't stop it from being a warm and interesting place to stay for a few days. I suggest a visit to the County Museum first in its brilliant new home. The present displays give you a feel for the region and the peoples over centuries as they lived and live their lives in a genuine "borderland". Congratulations to the Museum curators. I already shared my experience with the meadows but it said it did t go through so I will say again it was amazing and the people who ran it treated us like princesses and the breakfast was amazing and they even gave us a ride to the bus station and the mall was cool and flemings was my favorite to visited along with sound quality gifts and two local bars we were all set . Go to the SVP charity shop! We passed through on the way to Donegal and found some of the best bargains of our lives. Neighbourhood is a lovely dinner spot, if on the expensive side. Monaghan is a very busy town with some lovely dress shops and men shops. Nice coffee bars and place to eat - food is lovely and plentiful!. We noticed there was no litter anywhere. A very enjoyable visit and would recommend The Meadows - very clean, nice towels every day, etc. We ate in the Westenra Hotel. Very easy to get around Monaghan.Guest review byAnonymous

Located in the center of the small town, everything is within walking distance. The room itself is quiet and spacious with everything you could possibly need. The bed was large and comfortable with extra pillows in the cupboard, we had a great sleep. Waking up to the private garden view. The owner was very helpful, accommodating and easy going.
