Centrally located in the beautiful market town of Swimford in County Mayo, only 15 minutes drive from Ireland West Airport Knock, the family-run Gateway Hotel is truly the gateway to the West of... Very comfortable- centrally located. Wonderful & welcoming staff
Mill Stone Cottage, a property with a terrace, is located in Swinford, 1.6 miles from Meelick Round Tower. This property has a patio, free private parking and free WiFi. A traditional small refurbished cottage with everything you require. Open plan living space with kitchen and dining area, modern bathroom, spotlessly clean . Conveniently situated just at end of the Main Street in Swinford but quiet. Little enclosed patio area and decking, safe for children too. Whilst not as contemporary as my own personal taste the decor fitted the style of the property and looks as though it has been recently completed.
Swallows Cottage is located in Swinford. Located a 16-minute walk from Meelick Round Tower, the property provides a garden and free private parking. Very well equipped cottage. All essentials in kitchen. Host provided bread, milk, tea, coffee etc. Very helpful host. Would definitely stay again and recommend. Large supermarket minutes away. Nice places to eat locally.
Located in Swinford Town, Mill Street Cottage features a terrace patio area. Just a 2-minute walk from the town's main street, this over 200 years old holiday home, offers free WiFi. Jimmy was absolutely fantastic and so accommodating!! He left milk bread eggs biscuits ham and a lot of other bits for us to eat during our stay! The place was spotless and the outdoor area was so pretty! Just a shame the weather wasn’t so good at the time. We will definitely be back on our next visit to beautiful Ireland!
Swinford Bridge Street Apartment offers accommodations in Swinford. The unit is 1.1 mi from Meelick Round Tower. An oven, a microwave and a toaster can be found in the kitchen. More roomy than expected, will consider sharing with another couple next time. Very comfortable and obviously close to town. We arrived later than expected and they were very accommodating to get us access to the apartment
I was there for a family funeral so didn't visit any sites unless you include the church ( which is lovely by the way ) and the graveyard ( which was very damp ). I have visited Swinford on several occasions and always stayed at the Gateway which has been revamped since my last visit. It is a very convenient stopover from Knock airport.
Well the times were in now with every where closed We were lucky with hotel & just a few doors down you have cambles pub .does great food made us fell very welcome. So if your visiting call in .liam & staff were so welcoming.
There for family gathering a few miles away. Good situation to explore the surrounding area and....get to the sea. If self catering shops all within walking distance. On the whole excellent roads with the exception of the quirky single track roads with grass growing up the middle ....satnav seemed to have a penchant for finding a route using some of these L roads....beware😂😱. Main roads generally have excellent surfaces. Plenty good eating places around area.
Michael Davitt: he lived in the workhouse in Swinford with his mum when he was four years old. He became an important human rights advocate for here and other colonial countries, which have had very little voice in governments. Go visit the famine graveyard in Swinford, behind the hospital. County Mayo could have easily grown enough food to support its own population, but the crops was exported, and the people here starved - heartbreaking,
Check out Mellett's Drinking Emporium, a real old world pub full of artefacts and memorabilia from past times. Also the 19th century handball alley and the Brabazon memorial in the graveyard. The Gateway Hotel was also very good and this part of the word specialises in brown bread.
The host was absolutely lovely, met us at the time we asked and showed us around the apartment. The apartment is really nice with everything you could need. they had left anything you could want for breakfast.....milk, bread, butter, tea, coffe, eggs cereal...... The bed was super comfortable as were the couches, we felt like at home. Swinford itself isnt very big but theres a Tesco 2 mins from the apt, coffee shop right down the street and a shop right beside it. Overall we felt like at home, lovely cos apt, very private and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. If we are ever in Swinford again we will def go back.
Well presented and was in excellent condition throughout. Fantastic kitchen and toiletries, towels and even breakfast supplies/tea & coffee etc were provided. Even the weather was very good in Swinford on the Bank Holiday weekend. The back garden or terrace area would also have been really good to sit in with more time.
We had a lovely time at swallows cottage. Everything you need is there. So clean. Comfy beds. Patricia is so helpful. We even got to meet a lady who had been born in the house years ago. Was so nice. Tesco and swinford town are litterally a 3 minute drive in the car.
Great location. In walking distance from everything Swinford has to offer , lady who owns the property was a pleasure to deal with and made us feel so welcome , would definitely recommend this property to anyone and we will definitely be back,
Great location close to the town of Swinford. Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Nice sitting room area to relax and chat. Pool table was a bonus. Highly recommend.
