Very nice and quiet rural area, perfect for Golfers, but I needed to get to the City (Carlow) every day since I am NOT an hermit. Still a great base to take day trips to Irish National Heritage sites such as Glendalough, Rock of Cashel or Duckett's Grove

Mount Wolseley Golf course is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.
Carlow, and Bunclody Courses are just a short drive away.
Tullow is a good base for visiting all the amazing sites in Dublin. A drive through the Wicklow Mountains are a WOW. For a 40-60 minutes drive you can find so many places to see. Kilkenny, Newbridge and Dundrum they all have great shops, Carlow too has some interesting shops. Punchestown and the Curragh Racecourses are just an hour away, Newbridge has a Greyhound Stadium where you can book an evening meal and entry for under 30 Euro.
Kilkenny has an amazing castle that is well worth a visit, and just 20-30 minutes drive to Castlecomer you will find Dunmore Caves with some very strange history. ( Over 700 steps so you will need to be fit).
Children are not forgotten, Courtown harbour and seaside resort has a fun fair, two crazy golf courses and an entertainment centre with ten pin bowling and if you prefer a place in the countryside Clara Lara Funpark is the best ever. We could sit and relax while the kids found so much to explore. Check the Website. Tullow is a quiet and small town and just the best base to visit so many great locations in the Sunny South East.
Lots of places to see around Tullow.
Lots of places to see around Tullow. Rathwood is a great place for family outing and they have special events for children at Christmas, Easter, etc. Gorey is a great shopping town and only a short distance from Tullow. Huntington Castle in Clonegal is only about 14 miles from Tullow.
Lovely town .
Lovely town . Visited Altamont garden, a must. Had a meal in the Riverbank and they were very accomodating, preparing a special platter for my vegan son. Lovely day spent in Mt. Wolseley, fabulous hotel and very friendly staff.
Close to Carlow for the bigger stores.
Close to Carlow for the bigger stores. Only an hour from Dublin. Head for Daltons Bar for the craic and the Tara Arms for good food. A visit to Rathwood to do some Christmas shopping is worthwhile. The people are so welcoming!
“The house was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owner, John, was very accommodating and hospitable. He was also meticulous in ensuring we knew exactly where we were going and how the keys would be collected as our stay began on St. Stephen's day when the hotel was closed. The hotel leisure facilities were excellent. We couldn't have asked for more.”
“The very warm welcome on arrival. A large room with more drawers & hanging space than a 5* hotel. The best cooked breakfast ever. Delicious food served fresh from the kitchen (not sitting for hours like in a hotel buffet).”
