Magnificent city of Uttar Pradesh. Traffic would be a problematic thing that could make you mad but every location and destination has its own meaning and beauty as well. Dont go for self drive try public transport or cabs if possible. Be careful while booking hotels . You will love the city and food. Make sure you visit sunrise township (chauka ghat) and contact sadhana singh as she has the real meaning of banaras.

The Varanasi culture is simply incredible, the people are beautiful souls. If you smile, you get three of four smiles back, so do it a lot. Experience the morning and night ceremonies on the gnats which are riverfront steps leading to the river; there are 84 of them. Do some homework before arriving such as why is it the holiest city in India? Who are the Gods and what are the main rituals and so on. Warning...Varanasi is alluring, you will find you will want to return again and again. Be respectful, don't turn up in short shorts and so on.

The area around the ghats where we stayed was busy and vibrant and people were welcoming and friendly. There was plenty of choice for taking boat trips up and down the river from early morning till into the night. With great respect we were able to observe the sombre scenes around the burning ghats, the main areas around which appear to have been remodelled and tidied up in recent years. The old shops are many and varied and street stalls abound on the wider stretches of road. The narrow alleyways in the old quarter meander about and its very easy to loose your sense of direction but if in doubt expect to find the river downhill, somewhere. The streets here always seemed busy with people and motor scooters hooting and tooting. We were happy to frequent a nearby market area with numerous stalls in the evening for good street food and tasty curds. It was good to be able to return to our guest house with its elevated view over the river and the ghats below as the evening quietened down.

Too many Narrow roads for kashi vishalakshi temple its located somewhere in gully,also too much crowded in Kal bhairav temple if you go to back gate of temple,you will get lost also if you are on wheel chair its very hard,Also in kashi vishwanath temple after pooja,preist will ask for brahman bojan 2200 rs.also there is hanuman temple located inside kashi vishwanth temple again there priest asked for 2200 for brahman bojan even though you book abhishek online you have to pay min 500 for priest. also there is no value for 100rs min the priest charge min 500 rs. Also they will demand money inside temple 500 per head after doing pooja. So if you go to temple kindly carry change with you 100 rs. They mint money like anything in name of god. and suppose if you take sugam darshan ticket 300 rs dont go to any priest they will charge min 500 rs max 2000 rs. go directly to gate no 4 go through security check and then you will find a queue join that in 30 min you will get darshan. If you have old parents with you go for sugam darshan.

A beautiful city which is so unique. What you can experience in Varanasi is mystical. Go for a longer time, 3 days minimum so you can experience the calmness this city has to offer. Baba Vishwanath certainly resides in this place and ghats have their own story. Do try the Pan, Kachori and Lassi. Also, idli's at the street side thela's near Kashi Vishwanath Temple, they were soulful.

Try Vande Bharat train ride from Delhi to Varanasi. It is amazing experience. Awesome place to feel the pull of spiritual and religious atmosphere. Lot of religious places to visit. Sarnath is close by and amazing place to visit. There are amazing museums to know the history. I recomend taking cruises booked online like Alaknanda to get a short introduction to the history and places to visit in the city. Talk to locals to know of more remote and less visoted amazing places within the city. Marwadi hospital helped to get a quick fix for upset stomach and it was cheap as well. The food court in Kashi vishswanath corridor has great food . We stayed at Shri Ganesha Palace which was the reason we could walk to most of the places. Saved time.
