United KingdomThis was the most welcoming hostel we’ve stayed in. Sourabh ji was so knowledgeable and gave us better information about Varanasi than even tour guides did! We initially stayed in hotels near Dashaswamedh Ghat but prefer the location of Gully Ghar (near Assi Ghat) as it was quieter and a more beautiful ghat but still with plenty of restaurants etc nearby. Gully Ghar is also our favourite of the 3 hostels we stayed at.
Sourabh took such good care of us, even making Khichidi for me when I was sick. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Highly recommend staying here :)

The mix of colors, lighting and decor gives it a boutique feel. The terrace was another highlight — we did yoga in the morning and relaxed there in the evening. Nice balance of comfort and style.

As now in India, you would probably notice that it is Chaos and you have to go with the flow. In Varanasi immerse with the flow and enjoy it. Enjoy the food, the sweets, Enjoy talking to the locals, Enjoy the street vendors, Enjoy the ghats- walk as much as you can on ghats and the streets leading to ghats. And if you are tired there will be boats who will take you from here to there. Sharin boat is best, you just need to experience the boat alone only once and that too either Sunrise or Sunset. Observe just everything. Because Vanarasi is about the people and the river. If you are an international traveller like, Chai is a must anytime. Google map is your best friend in Vanarasi, use it properly to locate the places you wish to visit and most importantly the good restaurant present there, plus rickshaw/tricycle is always here to take you in and around. LET THE FLOW GUIDE YOU IN VANARASI.

Varanasi is a place for everyone, as a regular tourist there is so much of heritage, monuments and food that it will give a unique experience.
There is no greater experience than varanasi when it comes to religious experience, from temples to ashrams to saints and Ganga Aarti and kashi vishwanath, there is no parallel experience anywhere in the world.
And the third is spirituality, this is a place where you get to meet yourself, understand the true meaning of life, mortality and nashwar shareer, you can sit for hours on the ghats any time day and night alike. Allow yourself to soak in yourself, the chaos has a sense of calm, fire at manikarnika ghat gives you peace and you feel elevated to being a part of the supreme creator.
Varanasi is a place that everyone in the world should atleast come once, I have lost count of how many times I have been to varanasi but each time, I feel more connected with myself.
I don't know what you are searching in varanasi but I can assure you that you will find yourself.

Varanasi is a very special city. You need to be prepared for bustle, crowds, constant noise, dirt and dust. This city is very different, unusual, with an ancient history. He just shocked me. But I think that not all tourists can be here.

Varanasi is a place with history, culture and with a spiritual vibe. But in my opinion the Ghats need to be cleaner as it is quite dirty at certain patches and also the in between Shivala to Assi Ghat a section was not lit up so it's difficult to walk in the dark. CLEANLINESS and TRAFFIC needs attention. Rest all good.

To me, Varanasi is not just a place, its an emotion. Had a lovely time enjoying by the ghats. The ghat walk in the morning was amazing. Varanasi has such a vibe, it gives you the needed break, and the time to look into yourself.
Plenty of local eateries, easy to access if you enjoy walking.

Hotel staff is very friendly and it's very clean for indian standards.
Amenities are cool, but maybe more than 2 small water bottles would have been nice for the price.
It's on the expensive side but it's reasonable for ayodhya.
People say the location is in some secluded road but honestly, the hotel staff brings you to the hotel when you first come to Varanasi, and once you are there, finding your way is really not that hard, sure the roads are small but it's really manageable.

Alka Hotel in Varanasi is a true gem! The location is unbeatable, right along the ghats with a stunning view of the Ganges. We stayed here 2nd time. waking up to the sunrise over the river was magical. The rooms are cozy, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. We loved the rooftop restaurant which serves delicious food with the best view in town

I booked this hotel for its location. This is the best location to stay if you are coming to Varanasi for Darshan and Ganga Aarti. You can just walk to mandir and ghats. Good food in the restaurant. Staff is also great and helpful. Special mention for Utkarsh and front office team for helping us in arranging taxi and boat rides.
