My room was immaculately clean and everything worked. If I needed anything, reception took care of it. Very nice staff! The two dinners I ordered from the restaurant were delicious. I’m a senior who likes to walk, so was able to walk to the pier where the boats to Ross Island leave from, the Celular Jail, Anthropology Museum, etc, (a bit treacherous at times but doable). Transfers to and from the airport went flawlessly. If using a foreign credit card to pay, be aware that not all of them always work at every place in India. My MasterCard didn’t work here, but did at the next hotel. I ended up paying cash. No big deal, but be prepared.

We liked the visit of Ross Island (a short boat trip and an e-buggy ride from the port to the lighthouse side of the island) and the Cellular jail. The city itself is pretty much the typical picture of Indian cities. A lot of (for us pretty chaotic) traffic, small shops along the streets with pretty unattractive facades during the day, but all neon-lighted during the evening. The first thing we noticed was that there are proper pedestrian corridors along the main roads (not blocked with all kind of stuff and not decorated with litter like we've seen in most of the other cities). The museums that were on our list as possible points of interest were unfortunately closed on Monday, the last day of our stay. There are also several attractive beaches in less than an hour car drive from the city centre, but only one was open for swimming during our stay. The beaches are worth of admiration but of course you cannot expect to enjoy the natural beauty of these beaches alone, expect to be accompanied by numerous tourists coming to Andaman with 22 daily domestic flights (according to our taxi driver).

Port Blair is the gateway to Andaman Islands. Also, it has a lot of historical and emotional significance to Indians. Over the years Andaman Islands are becoming popular tourist destinations and Port Blair will become increasingly important. We have not been able to cover North of Port Blair much, where some very nice places are located. The best island as of now is Havelock, but Neil Island is becoming more and more popular with tourist infrastructure developing rapidly.

Pre paid taxi service at the Airport is best as the price is very reasonable for drops. Must Visit places are Mount harriet National park,Corbyns Cove beach and Chidiya Tapu. Corbyns Cove beach is good for sunset and water activities (Jetski, speed boat, Sofa ride, Parasailing). Mount Harriet has the best view of islands near by, good for clicking pictures and finding birds.
