I have visited both and I can vouch the lakes of Arunachal enroute Bumla can enthral you as much as the lake in Interlaken. A bit more cleanliness is what the mountains in Arunachal deserves. Tawang is a small hill station but can be over crowded because of weekends or festival holidays or new year holidays. Lot of traffic restrictions but traffic is very well regulated.Beautiful place having lakes, monastries and waterfalls. The place along with all its neighbourhood are excellent. One gets snow if the visit is around winter, while one gets flowers if it is during summer. Near the rainy seasons, the nearby water falls are beautiful. For working persons, whenever one can manage leave, this place is great. Tawang is heaven, nothing less.
Tawang is heaven, nothing less. I think it was better than Ladakh. Bumla Pass was awesome. You can see the China Border and the chinese soldiers in their white attire just 100 metres away. The Indian army briefed us about the terrain and the history about the Bumla Pass. It was a different experience altogether. There are army run cafes at many places on the way from Dirang to Tawang with non CSD canteens attached. You can buy very good quality warm clothing and shoes from these canteens and enjoy the Parathas, Maggi and Coffee at very reasonable rates at these cafes. Since these are run by the army, these cafes are very neat and clean. Tawang is a 7 hours drive from Dirang by car. On the way you can enjoy the awesome greenery and lovely valleys and lakes.
