The place is nothing compared to Munnar (been there 6 times). The city is too crowded, dirty, and full of disgusting restaurants. There's not much to see outside the city as well as the place is barely 1000m from sea level. Do not go there expecting stunning mountain top views, cloud-covered peaks, or beautiful meadows. Even the tea estates looked dry, uneven, and neglected. The hotels are overpriced! Doddabetta peak was very interesting. So was the Botanical gardens. Boating in the lake had very few options. Only large motor boat and large canoe. Nothing in between. These boats we very large and expensive for the 3 of us.Guest review byB SIndia - 10.0
The climate of Ooty is amazing.
The climate of Ooty is amazing. Having your own vehicle makes it easy to move around. Not a problem even if you dont- Rickshaws available, walking around the town is fun. Botanical garden, Karnataka garden are the famous gardens to visit. Can spend almost the whole day relaxing there. Tea and Chocolate factory is also a tourist spot. Boating at Ooty lake is expensive and not very exciting. Moddys cafe is chocolate/desert place. Do not miss it. Out of ooty one can visit pykara peaks,boat house and shoot spots.
