Akureryi is a beautiful little City great architecture with plenty of good cafes /Berlin cafe was excellent there was diving locally near to hot volcanic chimneys coming up through the fiord and an excellent ski area with ski hire available at several locations with friendly staff The city is close enough to the waterfalls of Dettifoss and Gooafoss both spectacular .Also the hot mud and fumaroles on the volcanic ridge near Myvatn lake .We also appreciated the authorities keeping the roads clear of snow for all travelers
good skiing area, very nice landscape and environment, very nice interesting surroundings. Definitely worth a visit in winter even more than in summer, here you meet Iceland and its nature at the best
Akureyri is amazing, it has everything you would want to experience from Iceland, it has the nature, the mountains, the weather and if you go in winter it has the most amazing northern lights show you will hopefully experience.
Second largest town in Iceland, but still a small place. Good base for visiting places like Myvatn and Husavik. Make sure you go at a weekend and visit Graeni Hatturinn a fantastic music venue for some incredible live music
It was clean and spacious room/studio. We prepared our own meals there and there was a full kitchen. We did not plan to spend too much time in the town itself, rather drive around and visit places, such as Lake Myvatn (which we were a little disappointed about), waterfalls (which were great) , hot springs and geography in general. The 'downtown' area is very nice, with some bars/restaurants, walking passage, and a church on the hill from which there are beautiful views. Close by is the cruise ship terminal. We drove around the town and it's not inspiring but it is nice and clean. There haven't been too many tourists, so the town seemed 'sleepy'.
Akureyri is a very beautiful city, and is a good place to set up camp for exploring other areas in the North. If you have the time while you're in town, you should go and visit Husavik, which has the highly recommended Geosea hot tub. We also visited Godafoss while we were in Akureyri. If you're interested in a unique dining experience, you must also check out Kafiku, which is on the other side of the river from Akureyri. It's one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in town.
As you can see from photo below the views of the fjord are breath taking. The place is spacious and very clean. Breakfast had good coffee as you overlook the fjord. Bathroom has a nice rain shower and is good sized. Torinn and his wife really made the stay. He was very kind, helpful and extremely interested in our well being without being intrusive. While the hotels is outside of the downtown it is a short scenic ride to downtown. Strong recommendation to stay here and base for day trips.
Hottub outside, nice view from the breakfast area, overlooking the airports take-off line in the distance, our 3yrs old enjoyed seeing how the snowmachines are working, clearing the snow. There are also lots of games and books in the lobby, which kept him entertained. The cherry on the cake was the tractor clearing the snow in the hotel driveway, driver of which let our son to sit in it
Great breakfast! the pancakes were delicious. The staff were very helpful when we had queries. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. We were only there one night and got in quite late so had to get food from the supermarket as all the restaurants were closed. Having a fridge in the room was therefore very useful.
We had plenty of breakfast options; eggs, beans, bacon, yoghurt, fruits, cheeses and waffles. The waffles were a very nice touch. Our room was very spacious, it had its own sitting area and the bed was the comfiest. I had a great night's sleep! The views from the property were stunning as it looks out toward Akureyri from a hill.
The staff was amazing - they helped me adjust my stay as I wasn't able to make my previous date. They really did go out of their way to accommodate me. The hotel breakfast was delicious and the room was cozy and perfect for a great night's sleep.
Akureyri

The room was small but adequate. The bar area was nice and the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was adequate but located in a dingy basement room. The staff was helpful and friendly. Parking was free and convenient. The hotel was close to town
Perfect location! Easy to find with adequate parking yet close to shopping and restaurants. Slept like a baby in their comfortable beds. The breakfast was also very nice with many options.
Akureyri
The location was great for seeing Akureyri and getting to restaurants.
Akureyri
Awesome location, right above Cafe Berlin and a micro brewery. Fantastic large apartment, two separate rooms for two couples, kitchen, dining room and living room. It was the only place that we stayed in Iceland that gave us a queen bed instead of two singles. Also the only place that had in suite laundry, so we could do a much needed wash if our clothes.
Akureyri
Right in the middle of city with restaurants include cafe, western, Subways, Indian, Turkish, famous hot dogs store and church in walking distance. Room was modern with enough heater and luggage storage, kitchen with complete equipment for my home cook. Street parking not a problem for me in the evening as day time will be out mostly.
Akureyri
Very clean and quiet, amazing location very close to Akureyri. Good breakfast with local products. The price we paid for this accommodation is lower than the one we paid in other towns where we had to share the bathroom and the rooms were not so clean and new.
Akureyri
Everything! Great communication and lovely staff. We were able to check in earlier and even received some discount. Spacious room with all you need. We enjoyed the hot tub a lot :) Definitely good value for money.
