Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland.
Nice place to stay while visiting sites in North Iceland. We were able to see the Northern lights while there in early October, but our lodging was slightly out of the main city lights. Nice restaurants and easy to walk around. Botanical garden was a very nice place.

Great place for a day trip, or two.
Great place for a day trip, or two. Limited eating options (compared to Reykjavik). The lagoons (Forest lagoon / Myvatn) are worth a visit. There are of course also some nearby waterfalls. There's a fantastic petting zoo which is definitely not to be missed.

Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer.
Nice small city . Surprisingly bug infested in late summer. Wonderful sights nearby. Very few free parking lots . Dettifoss was awe inspiring. There are steam venting sites worth visiting. There are crevasses separating American and European plates you can walk across caves and crevasses where Game of Thrones was filmed . Restaurant 23 is a great fish restaurant

Akureyri is a beautiful little town in N. Iceland.
Akureyri is a beautiful little town in N. Iceland. Super picturesque, at the base of a fjord. We booked a whale watching tour with Keli Sea Tours and saw humpback whales.
Everything is walkable and there are some great restaurants, especially Strikið, where I had the best piece of salmon I have ever eaten.
The botanical garden is free and beautiful. The kids loved the little Christmas house on the edge of town.
If you are driving the ring road, you must stop here!

We was looking for local food but no one. we could find only pizza, burger, fried chicken restaurant. And we was found food truck which owner is very rude, we not recommend there but anyway bakery at the corner was very good.
Amazing accommodation. The room was elegant with huge windows and a seating area, perfect for hot tea on a snowy day to work on my computer. The bathroom had everything I needed to feel right at home. The location was excellent. One block to the public pools which I visited every night of my stay. Also an easy walk to the harbor, shops, cafes and restaurants. Tea and coffee available all day in the lobby. Breakfast was wonderful and the coffee maker divine.
Nice family run hotel on a working farm outside of Akureyri. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The structure housing the guest rooms is a converted sheep shed, which lends some novelty. Dinner was standard fare (lamb and Arctic Char) but very good. The breakfast was also sumptuous and tasty. View from hotel room looking out on the pastoral landscape was relaxing. Potential exists for relaxing outside but the weather was not permitting during our stay.
Free breakfast in large lounge included coffee/espresso machine, hot bacon and eggs, cold cereal and yogurt with all the toppings, and fresh fruit. The hot tub looked beautiful, but we did not get to enjoy it as another group was already using it. Our group of 4 stayed in the apartment with 3 separate rooms. Very spacious. Quiet building right off the hwy. Close enough to the city to see the sights and eat at a restaurant.
the larger room was very comfortable . THE ONLY issue we had was the noise from the bar and it's patrons until 4am! my son and daughter in laws room was on the 2nd floor and at thr front of the hotel. they got absolutely NO sleep the 2nights we were there. if you stay there pay the extra money for the larger rooms on the 3rdfloor. it was near some very good restaurants.
This is such a lovely place. I had the room on the upper floor with a view to Akureyri. That was simply perfect. The room was well equipped (incl. Netflix), bathroom had a good size. Breakfast offered everything I need. Staff was very nice. All recommendations for restaurants were good. If I ever come back to the Akureri area I will stay again in this nice Hotel!
It is a very nice hotel, near to the airport. Reception staff was very kind and helpful. Room was large, clean. Bathroom also clean. Wi-Fi worked well. The outdoor hot tubs were great. you can reach them with the basement corridor, where there are dressing rooms and from which you go out to the garden. plenty of parking space for the car. Good breakfast.
The location is good in the centre of Akureyri. Parking was close, and free 16:00-10:00 which covered our whole visit. The bed was comfortable and all of our party slept well. The shower was hot and powerful, always a plus.
Free breakfast for our daughter was a welcome and generous touch, which probably knocked this review up a couple of points.
My room was very nice and comfortable. Hotel was clean and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the botanical gardens. The food at the restaurant was very good. I would like to mention that the staff were very helpful.
Akureyri is a nice place to visit and you can take a day trip to Grimsey Island.
The room was small but adequate. The bar area was nice and the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was adequate but located in a dingy basement room. The staff was helpful and friendly. Parking was free and convenient. The hotel was close to town
Quiet location a short drive from town. Well equipped and comfortable room with views of the countryside. Kitchenette shared with one other room was very convenient. Good breakfast and yummy food in the restaurant. Everyone friendly and welcoming
The view was amazing and we enjoyed the breakfast. We also asked the staff for advice on restaurants and activities in the area and they were very helpful. Would love to go back and will recommend to our friends on their way to Iceland.
Location perfect, just a short walk into town to grab an evening meal and breakfast in the morning.
The hotel and room were spotless and the facilities were great, especially the bathroom. The hotel was quirky and had a romantic feel.
Location was outstanding, in the heart of town, next to restaurants, shops, and at the foot of the iconic church. Breakfast was excellent, staff was efficient at check-in for our large group, and rooms were perfectly comfortable.
Walking distance to town centre and restaurants.
Nice and spacious apartment. Excellent option for overnight or long haul stays in Akureyri .
Dry cleaning facilities is definitely a bonus with this stay.
Ample parking too.
Fabulous location a short block off the main shopping/restaurant street of Akureyri. Excellent modern apartment with all necessary facilities. Convenient free parking on site.
