Good value and a great experience. I’d do it again!

This hotel is located 15 minutes’ drive from Dalvík and 39 mi from central Akureyri. It provides a restaurant with bar, along with views of Lake Ólafsfjardar and the Tröllaskagi Peninsula. very good breakfast, comfortable bed, playing pool in the evening was nice, great staff
These Northern Iceland wooden bungalows are 50 minutes’ drive from Akureyri. Each has a private terrace with an outdoor hot tub and mountain views of the Tröllaskagi Peninsula. The cabin was far better than expected, the photos didn't show how 'good' it was. It's situated in stunning scenery, the facilities supplied are really good...…… Better than good to be honest, hot tub outside on porch, complete kitchen with all utensils, dining table and lounge area with mid-size TV. Large parking area. A great bonus is that you could see the Northern Lights like we did.
Set in central Ólafsfjördur, this guest house overlooks the Eyjafjördur Fjord. It offers rooms with modern décor and views of the surrounding mountains. Very bright rooms. Breakfast was lovely. They went out of their way to accommodate our late arrival. We never use the shared spaces so it was fine that there was no parlor, but be aware that it's a bed, chair, table, and sink in the room (a small built in can be used for hanging).
GILSI EIRIKUR HELGI cafe on the main corner downtown is FANTASTIC! husband/wife team extremely hospitable - homemade food, bread and pastries - fantastic comfy cafe with antiques and whatnots. HOTEL DALVIK very convenient - nice helpful staff - great buffet breakfast - clean rooms.
The host is phenomenal. The host is very friendly, outgoing, and a very hard worker. The location is a great jumping off spot to catch the ferry to Grimsey, or to go deeper into the north region of Iceland.
great town with a good vibe, small restaurant on the corner has the best fish stew in the world cant remember the name of it .short ride just north out of town gives the best fiord views just sitting on the side of the road, with a lovely waterfall
Dalvik is a nice little town with all the basic amenities. The grocery store closes early (6pm) but there's a good restaurant down the street - Gregor's - and not to forget that in the nearby valley is a nature reserve that is absolutely stunning and has some beautiful trails to walk in the wetlands.
It is where the Ferry leaves from for the distant island of Grimsey, 3 times per week. However the ferry for Hrisey leaves 15minutes drive away. The town has a supermarket, petrol station and 3 good places to eat. The fish soup with salad and home made bread in the cafė on the corner is excellent, good when the Hotel does not serve dinner! Dalvik is a small fishing town, clean, smart and friendly.
nice small town, we were backcountry skiing in the area. we did go out on local whale watch, think was "arctic whale watching" and had a great time. Got close up to some humpbacks and caught some cod fish on way back in which they quickly cooked on the grill for us.

Great thanks Bjarni (owner of Hostel)!!! This man was in touch all the time, helped us with all questions, met us near the hostel right in time, when we arrived. Hostel like a historic old house, look like more Hotel, not Hostel) Bjarni gave me personal room instead of common for price like common. Why? Just because this room was not busy! :) So, why not? Icelandic people are realy kind! Hostel is so cute, that we didn't want move on on our trip, we wanted stay here for some days. Highly recommend this place to stay!

Clean, nice rooms overlooking the countryside. Common equipped kitchen, bathroom and living room. Everything we needed to cook and enjoy our stay we found. Fast wifi in room. Outdoors, children's playground and camp for tents. Very reasonable room rates, therefore we chose the room and did not use the tent :) In addition, pleasant communication at the reception desk. In the nearby Dalvik fantastic whale watching.
