Situated in Hjalteyri, 24 km from Akureyri, The Viking Country Club features a garden and free WiFi. The accommodation has a hot tub. Simpatia dos donos da casa. Cozinha muito completa e com uns docinhos caseiros excelentes. Banheira de água quente no exterior. TOP!
Featuring sea views, Bakkakot 1 - Cozy Cabins in the Woods offers accommodation with a balcony and a kettle, around 24 km from Hof - Cultural Center and Conference Hall. What a lovely place, just in front of the sea. Great vibe and serenity. We had the oportunity to watch some harbour porpoise from the small fishing port of the town. Incredible memories, thank you!
Overlooking the Kaldbakur Mountain and and Fnjóská River, Artun Guesthouse offers farmhouse accommodation in natural surroundings. Wi-Fi is free on site. Laufás Heritage Museum is 2 km away. It’s a nice property out in the middle of nowhere with lovely hosts who also did our laundry. We just wished that we had the opportunity to have more time to explore the area.
Located in Grenivík, Grýtubakki I offers self-catering accommodation with free WiFi. Grýtubakki I boasts views of Eyjafjörður Fjord and is 36 km from Akureyri. The property was incredible. It blew us away, the facilities and location were completely beautiful and we saw the aurora from there every night. Our hosts were really easy to communicate with and came and cleared the drive of snow after a night of snowfall. The horse riding next door was incredible too. Thank you so much for the most wonderful stay.
Hjalteyri is a very small town with a cute park and a nice looking little restaurant that we weren't able to use as we had already purchased food to cook ourselves. No other services. This is a great option for those seeking solitude but wishing to be close to the services of Akureyri.
Probably the best accommodation of our trip. No restaurant on site but the one nearby had the best seafood soup ever. Right across from the pier for an excellent whaling excursion. Boarding pass allows a 10% discount at restaurant.
This hotel is located in a small village on a lovely fjord. While it looks institutional from the outside its interiors are well designed and chic. We had a one bedroomed flat which was well equipped with a fully functioning kitchen and overall very comfortable. The location is excellent for exploring the north. Highly recommended.
Whales playing in the fjord outside the window each evening. A short drive to Akureyri, feels really out of the way and so, so quiet but not too far from the town. Good place to drive to Lake Myvatn for sightseeing.
Interesting village where the old herring factory is now used for businesses and art exhibitions. You can go whale watching from right there. Akureyri is 14km away and that's a very pleasant town on the fjord at the base of the mountains. It was quite lively in July. It is a fairly easy drive to Lake Myvatn with all it's charms - we did the Ice Cave trip with Saga travel which took us over the lava fields and was fun.
