CanadaThe property had all we needed. Excellent large shared kitchen which looks to have been built to support a restaurant. Large shared area for eating and relaxing. All the plates, cutlery, etc that you would need for meals. Industrial sanitizing dishwasher, so you can be assured the dishes are clean. Automatic espresso/coffee machine. Quiet sitting room upstairs. Good books on Iceland in the sitting areas, including books in birds. Tesla charger outside (but you can charge at the local pool for free if you have the correct charge cable for your car). Staff was super helpful!
The room was very comfortable, washroom was excellent. We had lots of space in the room. The shared spaces in this building encourage interaction with other guests. It was very quiet when we were there.
Highly recommended. Would definitely go back!

GermanyWhat a beautiful property surrounded by mountains and a small waterfall. We were pleasantly surprised by the side of the cottage, it was much bigger than we expected. The front porch area was all glass windows and doors with amazing views and a hot tub and there was a deck with a grill as well. The kitchen had everything we needed, even a waffle maker. This was my kids' favorite place, they loved the hot tub (no jets), the soccer field and small playground outside as well as walking up the hill near the waterfall. The lollipops on their pillows were also a great surprised for them. :) It was very relaxing and we enjoyed our stay.

Looking back, I feel lucky that we ended (pretty much by chance) in Ólafsfjörður and not somewhere in the south. Driving is slow in Iceland so even just getting to Akureyri was a substantial trip but that's a constant in Iceland. Knowing what I know now, it was as good a base as any, and better than most. On our way back to the airport when we stopped by the locations of the so-called Golden Circle, with their hundreds of buses and their crowds, it felt bizzare. The main attraction of Iceland is that you can take a hike among the hills and, with just a little luck, have the whole valley for yourself (not counting the sheep). The neighboring Dalvik offers great horse rides (do look at Tvistur), the ferry to Grimsey, and more.Guest review byMartinCzech Republic
