This family-owned lodge is set along the Lonsá River on north-eastern Iceland’s Langanes Peninsula. It offers an outdoor hot tub, café-bar and fully equipped guest kitchen. The room was very spacious with a comfy bed along with cooking facilities and a fridge. We really liked the decoration in our room and the coulourful main hallway. Really enjoyed being on a working sheep farm seeing many lambs along with some horses and some friendly Border Collie dogs. The location was very scenic and somewhat remote so far less tourists in Langanes Penisula than southern parts of Iceland. The host family were extremely friendly and helpful particularly their youngest daughter. We can recommend the tour of the bird cliffs done by the host father or mother. Got to see many birds along with some Puffins and learn some of the local history as well of the area. A lovely dinner along with breakfast is available along with drinks available for purchase. Would love to come back and visit again in the future and explore more of the beautiful nature and abundant bird life.

A beautifully remote place in a very different part of Iceland. Very rural and peaceful; completely unspoilt. Extremely friendly and helpful local people. But don't go there if you want bright lights and city or town culture - you won't find it as this is a tiny village harbour sure the article terms outnumber the people by x100 at least!
Raufarhöfn is a tiny village only a few kms from the northern most tip of Iceland. Quite an other-worldly place and worth the effort to drive out to the peninsula and look over the sea to the Arctic Circle.
This is a small, quiet place that gives you a real feel for how daily life in this isolated part of Iceland is all about physical work since nature here can be harsh and unpredictable. The Arctic Henge and the town church are worthwhile if you have the time to go off Route 1.
This is a pretty little town (the most northern in Iceland) on your way to northeastern Iceland. Don't take the dirt road along the coast to get here, as it's very dusty and really nothing spectacular as far as scenery goes. They're working on "Arctic Henge" which is interesting to see esp during the sunset.A nice one night stopover on your way elsewhere.
Facinating location in the very northeastern corner of Iceland. Special tundra landscape around. Pittoresque church and nice view from the lighthouse to the village.. Very recommendable to visit the Arctic Henge a monumental construction with huge rocks of a viking memorial which is placed exactly according to the 4 directions north-east-south-west.Special fotoshooting area. Also very astonishing to drive and walk to the most northern point of Iceland close to the arctic circle to the lighthouse Hraunhafnartangi. The very good gravel road goes further around the northeastern peninsula to Kopasker and gives always stunning views.
