The hotel was very clean and we felt the triple room we had was homely and spacious . The beds were really comfortable and Icelandic wool blankets are provided if you ever need warmth which is a nice touch . We had stayed here before four years ago and had very much enjoyed our stay then so were delighted that the hotel was as we had hoped . It provides what you need and the staff who were at reception were always very friendly and helpful

It's a small city, much smaller than most capital cities I have visited in Europe. It is also less pretty (think Bruges or Prague) but maybe it's because of the changing landscape. Transport system was very good, and the city was mostly clean. Lots of eateries, cafes and different cuisines, and most people spoke excellent English.

Touristy with mostly shops of repetitive souvenirs.
Touristy with mostly shops of repetitive souvenirs. Rainbow road was especially touristy and compared to what the rest of Iceland has to offer not worth your time. If you are going to Iceland for its natural beauty, skip Reykjavík or maybe stop in for an afternoon and spend your time experiencing what is unique about Iceland.

Normal city, with not so many places interesting to see. Cold and rainy weather always. Think 3 days maximum to see it all. HOP ON HOP OFF starts at 8.30 and finishes at 16.30 separated by 30 minutes in the summer and covers the city well. Perlan and Lava show are worth visiting.

Unfortunately flight delays stole a day of my stay in Reykjavik, when I arrived at the guesthouse I was warmly greeted and given local information. The guesthouse was clean, very quiet, in a local suburban street. The room was quite adequate for a couple of nights' stay, although not as close to everything as described. The bus station was in about 4 mins walk. I did a 12 hr day trip which was just wonderful (guide fantastic) - I would love to visit again for a longer time. Perlan Museum is a MUST to visit.

I loved being here, the people are friendly, it is such a beautiful place and the services are lovely... just be aware the only thing I didn't like was we had to use a local neighboring medical facility and doctoral staff there were very coercive and intimidating. I cant believe I'm saying that but yup as a tourist I actually had that experience where having personal autonomy to choose medical procedures was hugely encroached upon.

Reykjavik is a lovely mix of old world fishing harbour and cosmopolitan city. The infrastructure is good, with an easy to use public transport system to help you get around the city.
There are numerous attractions to visit, such as museums, art galleries, churches and lovely green open spaces.
The locals are friendly and the majority speak English, so there is no issue with language barrier.
The city is busy with people and traffic so you do need to be aware, though the drivers do seem to be more pedestrian aware than other places.
The cost of living in Iceland is expensive and so even a small snack can be quite expensive, that said, it is not extortionate as long as you budget well and opt for good deals on attractions. For example, entrance to most of the attractions start at around £30pp, this can be discounted if you look into buying the "City Card" - which gives free travel around the city, along with either free entry or discounted entry at some venues.
- Amazing breakfast, well worth it paying for it, so many good options
- Hotel restaurant is lovely, lots of good options and a good vibe in the eve with happy hour
- Lots of stylish areas of the hotel to relax in, wish we had more time to enjoy them
- Heated floor in the bathroom is great after cold days!
- Easy and friendly check in
- Spacious room and comfy bed
- Great location with good access to everything in Reykjavik city centre
The place is a Vietnamese enterprise comprising restaurant and hotel located right in the city center and footsteps from Hallgrimskirkja. Many details appear improvised, but the rooms are clean and the mattresses new and comfortable. Don't exptect grand hotel flair, but if you want to stay centrally for a decent price, it is very much O.K. There is some renovation going on, so maybe they currently try to raise the level.
The hotel is located in the center of the city, everything is easily accessible, restaurants, shops, etc.
We were welcomed from a nice staff and one of them recommended some places to observe the Northern Lights, he was really kind. The room was clean and bright, the bed soft and super comfortable. Rich breakfast for all tastes.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Reykjavík I'll recommend Hotel Plaza!
Beautiful little hotel in downtown Reykjavik! We loved our stay. Very comfortable and warm. A short 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop for tour pickups (seeing as they can't do direct hotel pickup as it is in an exclusion city centre zone). Thanks to the staff for their friendly service and for allowing us to store our suitcase for our return after a 2-night tour.
Fosshotel Lind was a great place to stay in Reykjavik. Its location was convenient enough to walk downtown, without being too close to the nightlife. The staff were polite and friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in years!
